It has been a while since I last posted but here is my latest work in Mexico.

To know the past is to hold the future. Preserving and honouring the knowledge and traditions that have been handed down for many generations create a healthy base for a culturally rich and wealthy future generation.

Pulque production has always had a stong presence in the central region of Mexico and has been traded in the the market of Atempan for many centuries. In recent years pulque production is challenged by more accesible comercial goods. In a world that is ever changing we should honour and celebrate the tradition by the pulqueros like the model in this image Maria Teresa de Assencion Flores.

Pulque is a light alcoholic liquid that is harvested from the heart of the maguey (agave) plant by removing the inner 3 or 4 leaves exposing the core of the plant. The plant leaks it's moist into the core where they can then harvest it with a little cup. This proces is called "raspar". Back in the days this was one of the few methodes that were available to access fresh drinkable water as sanitary irrigation was not present in small communities in the regions. In a way like the beer production was for europe in the middle ages. Now that sanitation is more present this tradition is losing it's necessity and needs to be preserved. I hope to assist this preservatiin by painting about this tradition.

I would like to extend my grattitude to the Dutch embassy and collectivo Tomate for the invitation. The project had some ups and downs working 3 weeks in the cold and humid mountain region amidst the clouds, but i am happy to say we made it in the end. Thank you to all the beautiful people I have gotten to meet and artists in this project❤️

Recently finished this portait of Isabel on the island of Bonaire. She is the daughter of Nikky Sophie Heuvelmans (Dutch origin )and Kharlox Pineda (Colombian origin ) who run a bike rental shop on the beautiful tropical island just in front of Venezuela. Isabel is full of character and charming girl that has a native bird from that region called a Trupial sitting on her hand. With this wall I want to represent 3 cultures in one image coming together and living in harmony.

For me painting in small communities like this one with only 22.000 inhabitants is what I like most. The impact a mural makes here is more tangible and many people came by to show support and to thank for making their island even prettier.

Thank you Nikky, Kharlox, Arrie and the whole team of scooters Bonaire for letting me paint this wall on the busiest street on the island and showing me so much appreciation and hospitality. You made my stay even more special. The 5 weeks I have been there flew by🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️

Work has started on the next mural in Dusseldorf Germany. If you are a clever chops you may even see who I am painting here. This wall i am painting for the lovely crew of europe headquarters on their roof top. The weather is tropical as you can see😅😅. Wish me luck.

For this years eurovision festival I have painted the portrait of the Dutch entry right across Ahoy. This is part of the city dressing campaign of Rotterdam.

The design incorporates element that refer to the new track Birth of a new age which tells about the strenght of a person no matter how people percieve you This is based on a surinam expression that half a cent is so small but still has value and cannot be broken. I have used elements of this coin like the round shape and kaffir lime plant of this half cent coin for the design. The light of a new day strike his face and his gaze is set hopefully on the horizon.

Bonaire island.

This mural is painted on the tropical island of Bonaire in de caribbean and is situated on a soon to be opened bar called tikiandco run by award winning mix master and awesome dude (on the left) Eddy S Trenidad who gave me complete freedom to paint whatever came up.

I would like to thank the people of StreetColors Bonaire project which consists of Rewriters010 and Hòfi Kultural Bonaire
for inviting me to come to Bonaire to teach local kids art classes and paint some walls in the mean time.

Normally I paint from my own reference photos/archive (95% of the time) that I take when traveling the world. This time I found this image online and fell in love with it. Unfortunately I could not track down the original photographer to give credits to him or her. I would love to find out who this is and perhaps you can help me spread the message and fingers crossed we can track em down and give credit when credit is due.

So here is my contribution for POW WOW Rotterdam 2020 edition. I had the pleasure to paint an old english doubledecker bus for La Karavana This will be an on the road hostel run by 4 woman that will cruise through Europe looking for adventure. I cannot wait to see what places they are going to visit and the photos it will give. Where do you think they should visit for sure?

Finished wall in Berlin at the [init] AG office during the expo at KUS Kultur-Späti.

It was a 1.5 day session and great exercise to paint a wall in this limited time because we had to get back to NL before this whole corona thing started to explode. I hope all of you are well and safe.
