Update: claimed by Maaike! Congrats!
Studio Epona celebrates the 8 pagan festivals with a discounted and unique flash design for each sabbat. They’re one of a kind and will be tattooed only once, so make sure to claim the image if you fancy it! Size posted is the minimum size, but can be up scaled to fit a certain body part on request (price will scale as well). The design will be hand poked. Keep in mind that not every design is suited for every body part, since it’s very important that a tattoo compliments the shape of the body. Therefore a suitable placement will be recommended. How it works; all you have to do is comment that you’re claiming the design, or send us a PM. First come, first served! We’ll then contact you for a down payment, and to make an appointment in the studio.
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM
In 2021 I took inspiration from this Shakespeare play for the Litha design for the first time, and I’ve continued that in the years to follow. With the Books & Stories theme for this year it’s even more of a perfect fit, so I’m not going to break tradition! This Midsummer I present to you Titania, Queen of the Faeries. And no style would let her shine more than Art Nouveau/Jugendstil in my opinion, which you might know by now is one of my absolute favourites. I gave a nudge to the story with the heart shape in her chest, and when I was done with the design I noticed one could also vaguely see another love themed body part in the lower region. The moon shaped crown is a reference to Titania, the largest moon of…Uranus, and only now I’m typing this I realise that’s also a delightful double fit! Funny innuendos to boot, I hope Shakespeare would be proud.
Titania is 22 x 12 cm and would look amazing on the top of the spine below the neck, or on a (long) lower inner arm for example. Her discounted price is 450 euro.
I hope all of you will enjoy Midsummer, and see you again with a new design at Lughnasadh!
We're celebrating Litha, also known as the summer solstice. Therefore it’s time for a new flash design.
Tonight at 18.00h (CET) the Litha design will be revealed, so here’s your heads up if you want to claim it.
Lianne was inspired by the beautiful rock drawings she encountered in Sweden and has since wanted a tattoo in that style. Additionally, she feels a strong connection with the Elk, so that animal has become central to this design. In the examples of rock drawings she sent me for preparation, the entrails of the animal are also clearly visible. Therefore, I thought it would be cool to incorporate this into the design I made for this hand poked tattoo. Thank you very much for this special commission, Lianne!
In 2022, Thomas got his first mushroom tattoo from me when he claimed one of the flash designs from that year. For his birthday, his girlfriend and friends gave him a matching tattoo. This time, it's a hand poked skull with ink cap mushrooms (shaggy mane). Awesome to do, thank you Thomas!
This hand poked tattoo is for Lieneke. The foundation of the design was created by her, and I translated it into a workable tattoo. It incorporates a lot of personal symbolism, and it's an honour that Lieneke asked me to do this for her.
Corina claimed the Beltane flash design of 2023. Recently, we finished the tattoo: the linework of this hand poked tattoo has healed, the shading is fresh. It was a pleasant session, and I'm proud of the final result!
Andre once made a commitment to himself that he would like to have a head tattoo once he became bald. When that moment arrived, he asked me to design ravens inspired by the Oseberg style. The left hand poked tattoo is already healed, the right one is fresh. This was a fantastic project to work on; thank you, Andre, for your trust!
Kenny had already visited me earlier this year for a personalized runic stave, inspired by runic staves like the Vegvisir and Ægishjálmur. This time, he returned for a hand poked Vegvisir for his other arm, to create balance.
Bennie asked me to design a bindrune with runes representing his life path up to now. Around the bindrune I’ve added the same runes freehandedly, to create an ornamental pattern that wraps around his forearm. A cool project and incredibly enjoyable sessions!
Do you want a hand poked bindrune too? Contact me for the possibilities.
I had the honour of being able to do the very first tattoo for Wendy. She chose the Algiz rune, which has significant meaning for her. Despite the sensitive location, she underwent the process of getting this hand poked tattoo fantastically.
Update: claimed by Louise! Woohoo! 🥳

DISCWORLD
“Truth, Justice, Freedom, Reasonably Priced Love and a Hard Boiled Egg!”
This was the motto of The People’s Revolution of the Glorious Twenty-Fifth of May, described in the book Night Watch from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld. Survivors of that revolution wear a lilac (sering) on that day to commemorate it. In my humble opinion, the Discworld series is among the best books ever written in the history of mankind, and definitely deserves a spot in this year’s Books & Stories flash theme. The lilac blooms right around Beltane and its beautifully coloured blossom and sweet fragrance adorns many a Beltane altar, so it felt like a perfect fit for this festival.
The lilac is 13 x 7 cm, and its asymmetrical design lends itself very well for off centre placement, for example the upper side of the calf (but other placements are possible as well). The discounted price will be 300 euro.
Wishing all of you a magical Beltane, and see you at Midsummer with a new flash design!
We're celebrating Beltane today, the peak of spring. Time for a new flash design!
Tonight at 18.00h (CET) the Beltane design will be revealed, so here’s your heads up if you want to claim it.
The Ostara flash design of 2023 was claimed by Ju. It's a Hummingbird Crocus. Where the Hummingbird stands for good luck, the crocus symbolizes rebirth and new beginnings. The placement she chose for this hand poked tattoo beautifully complements the design. Thank you, Ju!
Last year, Marijn visited the studio for a hand poked bindrune. Now, he was back in my chair because he wanted to add an ornamental touch to this bindrune. Marijn wanted another rune along with swirls featuring leaves for a natural look. I designed the base on paper, but the design was freehandedly poked onto his arm to ensure a smooth flow. I think it turned out to be a beautiful addition!
This hand-poked snake was designed and placed freehand for Els. Definitely no punishment, as these were very fun sessions with Els, and she sat like a rock.
This rune stave is inspired by symbols like Vegvisir and Ægishjálmur (Helm of Awe). I had the honour of designing it for Kenny, with runes of his own choosing. They symbolize the new path in his life. A Vegvisir will later be added to his other arm.
This ochre-toned triskel is for Bastiaan. He wanted the tattoo to complement the rings on his chest (the top one was also done by me, the bottom one was not). Tattoos in these light colors often fade much faster than black tattoos and may not be suitable for everyone. Fortunately, Bastiaan's skin carries it very well, and it reminds me of cave paintings, which I find very beautiful. For Bastiaan, the triskel symbolizes the dance between life and death, stagnation and progress.
Update: claimed by Marnix! Congratulations!

ALICE IN WONDERLAND
For this year’s Ostara in the Books & Stories theme I chose the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. Hares and bunnies are of course very iconic for this time of year, so I thought it would be very fitting! Not to mention that the story of Alice is about the transformation from childhood into adolescence, which to me also connects to the deeper meaning of Ostara. The hour on the watch it set at 6 o’clock, because this it the time of the Tea Party, and time in Wonderland has been stopped at that instance, so it’s always 6 o’clock. But if you want the watch to display a different time that’s significant to you that’s possible as well!
The White Rabbit and his pocket watch are 18 x 9 cm, and suitable for many different body placements. The discounted price will be 400 euro.
A happy Ostara to all of you, and I’ll see you again with a new design at Beltane! 🌸
Tonight at 18:00h the flash design of Ostara will be released, so make sure to check this page in time if you want to claim it before someone else does.
Martijn designed this tattoo himself and asked me to immortalize it for him. It features initials and symbolism that hold great significance to him. Thank you Martijn, for your trust.
For Tjerk, I designed this symbol of the earth element, inspired by a previous design of his own. Tjerk ultimately wants all the elements as tattoos, and this is a beautiful beginning. Moreover, this was his very first tattoo, and he did fantastic.
A significant and challenging project with creative freedom
Bart reached out to me for a large neck and back ornament featuring a personal bindrune. The task? The symbol in the neck and the moon are fixed elements, but beyond that, I had complete creative freedom. It's a joy to design that way. Thank you for your trust, Bart!
Hello everyone,
For the sake of transparency, I just want to let you all know there have been quite a few hick ups the last few months, and I’m not doing very well. I’ve been sick a lot lately, been to the doctor and everything seems to be fine, but it looks like I’m catching just about every virus out there. I’m also in my menopause most probably...Next to that I’m not doing great mentally either, which is an understatement really. Our pony Guus (who most of you will know if you’ve been to the studio) is also having a lot of trouble with his health (he had a very heavy colic attack in January, and today he’s been diagnosed with asthma) which adds a lot to the mental load, and there are other things in my personal life that are draining me right now. I know I’m not the fastest responder out there in the best of circumstances (yay, ADHD), but at the moment I’m so overwhelmed that it feels like I’m losing grip of everything. So if you’re waiting for a response or a design, please know I haven’t forgotten about you and I’m still excited to take your project on because I absolutely love creating beautiful tattoos for you. But at the moment it’s a lot to take on and I have a lot of back log, so please bear with me and I will get back to you as soon as I can. My sincere apologies for any inconvenience that this causes. Posts about previous tattoos will continue because I have an awesome social media person (Femke

Gilian and Jolene crafted this bindrune for their daughter Saga and entrusted me to bring it to life in a tattoo. The background features a Celtic knot from a ceramic ornament that holds special significance for them. A very special and personal project!
The Yule design of 2022 symbolized Krampus and was claimed by my dear friend Rineke. The image and placement of the tattoo align perfectly with her, and it feels like a gift to have been able to tattoo this design for her.
A snowflake with the runes Gebo (‘gift’), Tiwaz (‘Tyr’s rune’) and Isa (‘Ice’) incorporated for Remco. The Yule flash design of 2021 was claimed by Remco. Unfortunately, we couldn't get the tattoo done earlier due to the pandemic, but good things come to those who wait. Remco traveled all the way from Belgium to my studio for this. Thank you for your trust Remco!
Robert Jan claimed last year's Samhain flash design. He even pulled over his car while driving to be the first to claim the design with the raven skull. It's truly exciting to bring this design to life as a tattoo now. Thank you, Robert Jan!
A Kelpie for Stacy. This tattoo was done in the Celtic LARP village of Culhaven. Stacy, a fellow horse lover, had her heart set on a Kelpie tattoo for ages. Very honoured to make this happen for her.
Update: claimed by Segh! Congrats!

A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE
The theme for the 2024 feasts will be Books & Stories! And we’re kicking it off with this Imbolc design inspired on A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. It’s one of my absolute favourite book series (even if it’s not finished and I doubt it ever will) and I feel the symbolism of ice and fire are very fitting for Imbolc. The last grasp of winter against the warmth that Brigid brings perfectly sums up this feast for me. I also added an f-key to represent the song in the title. The music theme from the television adaptation is so good, so that was playing in my head when designing!
The design is 14 x 9 cm, and the shape is suitable for many different placements. The discounted price is 350 euro.
I’m really looking forward to creating more designs in this theme, and I hope you’ll enjoy them too! What is your favourite book or story? Let me know in the comments; it might inspire me for a future design! Wishing you all a lovely Imbolc!
