This week is the last chance to see our INSPIRE Art Award exhibition at Nitja senter for samtidskunst in Lillestrøm. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity❗️ On September 27, 2023, Daria Pugachova performed CITIES OF WAR in front of the UN International Court of Justice during the court hearings concerning the acknowledgment of Russia’s crimes of genocide in 🇺🇦Ukraine. For five hours, without a break, on a single breath, she sat inside the transparent cube while writing on the inside of the four walls the statement: “THE WAR IN UKRAINE IS STILL GOING ON.” The installation at Nitja is a documentation of this monumental performance. This week is the last chance to see our INSPIRE Art Award exhibition at Nitja senter for samtidskunst in Lillestrøm. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity❗️ Zun May Oo is a 🇲🇲Myanmar artist who in her work with “The Shadow of Heroes” is inspired by the classical Burmese “Yoke thé” puppet theatre tradition. The scenes of the story are manifested as elaborate, hand-crafted shadowboxes. Each box depicts a different scene in a tale of spirits coming together and seeking righteous revenge upon a malevolent demon who had ruined their collective lives. The rebirth of these rebellious spirits into heroes who both challenge and triumph over the demon is at the core of the story. Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO)

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity❗️Zahrasadat Hakim is half Iraqi and half Persian/Iranian. In “Two Lakes Behind Memories” she shares memories of her own journey and of war, conflict, and displacement. Zahra’s artistic practice is an exploration of belonging, identity, fragility of human connections, resilience, and care – but also the necessity to leave the world a better place for future generations. “A Request” With this powerful poem, Farooq expresses the aspirations of Rohingya refugees that are trapped in a life without rights and without prospects of freedom. He states a desire to be part of our world, whatever it brings. The film was screened first time at the INSPIRE conference at PRIO last week.

A Request

My one last request
to Almighty God.
I wish to be born again
with birth certificate,
citizenship guaranteed
and education ensured
to taste the world
how it is; delicious or not.

Poem by Farooq,
Filmed by Abdullah Habib,

A powerful and truly inspiring talk by CNN journalist🎥🎤Nima Elbagir at the PRIO Annual Peace Address. To create truthful and engaging reports, Elbagir emphasized the importance of diversity in journalism and the need to speak truth to power. The talk was beautifully framed by the impressing paintings🎨of ART Khalid Shatta and by East African beats🪘🎷from the Aowafy Orchestra.
