Sumo wrestlers aren’t allowed to drive cars.
It sounds absurd, but this is actually true. After a serious car accident involving a sumo wrestler, the Sumo Association banned wrestlers from driving their own cars. Just ’cause they can, I guess.

So they drink Japanese beer and eat a ton of izakaya dishes. Which you can do here at ISSHO as well. Welcome! 👺🎏👹🍡

The skewers often include various parts of the chicken, like thighs, wings, and skin, all seasoned and grilled to perfection.

When paired with food, sake holds two main functions. Firstly, it can intensify or even bring out hidden flavors of the ingredients in the food, in turn enhancing the taste profile and eating experience. Secondly, it can refresh the palate for the next bite.

The Japanese word izakaya (居酒屋) is made up of three kanji with the meaning, in order, “stay-drink-place.” A spot to grab a drink, settle in, and get comfortable. Sounds about right.
