We offer learning through embodied experiences, embracing nature, creative expression and hands-on scientific exploration.
Our term-based 3 days a week program for children 4-10 years old will embark on a journey and give the keys for raising creative, free, healthy, resilient, happy and skilled for life children; flexible in adapting to our ever-changing world. With our team we bring ancient wisdom, latest research and years of experience in child development together. Our philosophy is a blend of Montessori, Steiner, Heart school, Ayurveda/yoga, whole child development, sustainability and permaculture.
Wishing all our friends and whānau a joyful new year
Kia ora Whānau,
Wishing you all a wonderful festive season.

Towards the summer we are going to spend all of our time outdoors, camping and cooking on fire. We will collect and prepare wood, learn how to start a fire with a flint stone and a fire nest.
We will do a lot of outdoor art, weaving and sculpturing, designing natural eco homes and tree houses. Create and imagine in and with nature, learning to see and follow its patterns and beauty.
Weaving in the stories of our ancestors will help us get grounded and develop a sense of belonging to the land where we are.
As usual we will be meeting on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays 9.30 am -2.30 pm.
Ka kite wawe koe 🍃 🔥
Let's celebrate the coming of Kōanga/Spring with an Art and Nature holiday program from heARTinNature (October 4-6).
We will be based in the Karamatura pristine reserve and Kitekite falls area, connecting with nature as we search for inspiration and materials for creative expression!
We will be exploring art using various techniques and materials that we are going to find and make ourselves from what we find in Ngahere/the bush (inks, paints, brushes, paper). We will spend our days in play - grounding ourselves, delving into mindfulness practices, singing, practicing yoga, scavenger hunting and preparing and cooking food camping style on a gas cooker.
9.30 am - 2.30 pm - $80 per day incl. food and snacks.
Join us for a recharging experience in Nature.

We cannot quite believe our term is finished! What a beautiful time we have spent together filled with wandering in nature, wonder, delicious food, stories and more...we finished our week creating some beautiful angel artwork, working in the garden and learning about the fairy tern while sculpting them out of clay... we cannot wait to see what next term brings💕
Today we spent the day in the beautiful outdoors as rain poured down around us....we put on our rainjackets and identified plants, found blue bottles, caves and even a hut to make a shelter and huddle in to share some kai....a magical day...no matter the weather🌧✨
Haiku poems in the garden, watercolour painting, a story about birds and perfecting our buckwheat pancake recipe...a pretty tasty start to our week🥰
“Ka mahuta a Matariki i te pae, ka mahuta ō tātou tūmanako ki te tau - when Matariki rises above the horizon, our aspirations rise to the year ahead”
What an incredible evening we’ve had - crafts, baking, singing, feasting, a lantern walk, a story of Matariki and setting our own aspirations for the new year ahead.
Thank you to all our whānau and supporters for a fantastic year… we are looking forward to a wonder filled year to come

"There is no description, no image in any book that is capable of replacing the sight of real trees, and all the life to be found around them, in a real forest. Something emanates from those trees which speaks to the soul, something no book, no museum is capable of giving"
Maria Montessori💕
Today we made a warming winter drink, painted some clay decorations we had designed, created paintings about imaginary islands and sang some songs to prepare for our Matariki celebrations later this week✨
A beautiful end to our week...some weaving, artwork and a lovely lunch in the winter sunshine shared with our friends✨☀️
Yesterday we spent the most beautiful day outdoors...we trekked to a monument up high on a hill for some stunning views...we scoured the beaches for rubbish and collected it up to keep them beautiful...we played in the most amazing trees and played a game where we hugged a tree blindfolded and had to find it again💕
Today we celebrated a birthday with a beautiful story, cared for a sick chicken, created our own villages and finished making costumes for our constellation dance✨ A beautiful start to our week💕
Today we had the most glorious day visiting Tiritiri Matangi...we found fungi and giant weta..spotted takahe, kokako and many other beautiful birds. We experienced four seasons in a day as we travelled across in warm sunshine and travelled back in a downpour...we finished off our trip with a rainbow...not a bad way to end an amazing day together 🌈
A beautiful start to the week preparing and sharing some delicious food....we also explored the overture to the nutcracker and painted some beautiful pictures inspired by Matariki and Vincent Van Gogh✨
Each day is a magical unfolding…. We began our preparations for Matariki with songs and stories to set the scene. We discussed the constellations and then had a go at creating some models of Orion’s Belt and Sirius. We gardened and shared heart fuelling meals and played our way through a glorious winters day 💕💕
A misty morning amongst the rock pools at Cornwallis treated us to finding crabs, studying starfish and an adventure to the wharf. We spent the afternoon swinging on rope swings and finding ferns to make prints with amongst the pitter patter of the rain..💧🦀🌧💕
A beautiful day of companionship...we celebrated all the wonderful qualities that lie within us and those that we are working on...we also held a small cermony to celebrate some of our loved ones who are no longer with us remembering that their light will shine on for eternity✨💕
"Nature never did betray the heart that loved her" - William Wordsworth
Today the children immersed themselves in nature and spent the day challenging themselves on a beautiful hike to a waterfall...fears were overcome, banks were scaled down via rope and hot feet were rewarded with a dip in the cool waters of the waterfall✨
