I am a Psychology Honours student at the University of Auckland. For my thesis project, I am looking to explore the identity and experiences of Cross-Cultural Kids (CCK) in Aotearoa.
I am looking to interview a maximum of 10 people with three or more cultural backgrounds. You can participate if you are (1) aged 18 or over, (2) currently reside in NZ, (3a) your parents are each from a culture distinct to that of NZ Pākehā, or (3b) at least one parent is from a different culture to that of NZ Pākehā and you have also migrated to at least one other country than NZ in your childhood, or (3c) you have lived in two or more countries in addition to NZ in your childhood.
If you fit the description above, we will then have an in-depth interview discussing your cultural background and experiences, and how it impacts your identity and wellbeing.
The session should take a maximum of 2 hours of your time and your responses will be audio-recorded so that results can be reviewed later. The data collected will be used for writing a dissertation and all information given will be kept confidential.
As a thank you for your participation, you will be gifted a $20 Countdown voucher upon completion of the session.
Feel free to message me if you have any further questions!

✨Intro to the AUPSA Execs✨
Lucky last 🍀 Please give yet another warm welcome to our Equity Officer, Mei Gillespie 🫂❤️
Study/Year: I'm three years into my BAdvSci/BNurs conjoint specialising in psychology and majoring in nursing!
Role: My role is to advocate for equity within our initiatives we propose and that our events are equitable, inclusive and accessible. Another key aspect of my role is to make sure the wellbeing of our lovely AUPSA members and executive team are well supported and looked after 🙂
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was younger I didn't want to be stuck doing a boring job and naturally I gravitated towards activities that involved creativity, problem solving and creating cool pointless things 😎. My dream was to be a bioengineer ⚙️, climatologist 🌩️ and actress! For the longest time I really really wanted to build a machine that closely resembled the food weather machine from one of my favourite movies at the time, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs ☁️🍝 !
✨Intro to the AUPSA Execs✨
Please give a warm welcome to our Secretary, Vivek🧑💻
Study/Year: I am in my final year of doing my Masters in Criminology but already my BA in Psychology and Criminology.
Role: I am primarily the main admin person who is responsible for taking the minutes in a meeting, staying on top of emails, and making sure there is clear communication between the whole AUPSA team!
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was a younger I kinda bounced around a lot in what I wanted to do. I remember wanting to be an engineer because I loved the movie 3 Idiots (an absolute banger and highly I recommend it!!). Then I wanted to be a storm chaser because of the movie Twister (another absolute banger of a film). Before finally realising I loved crime and psychology because of shows like Criminal Minds and CSI which has lead to me down this path 😀

With some of the best science clubs the University of Auckland has to offer, The Science Carnival aims to say hello and welcome all Science Faculty students alike! In saying that, this carnival is open to all students for a chance to win some spot prizes thanks to the lovely sponsors ; BurgerFuel Queen Street, Sal’s Pizza and Earrings by Margs 🙋🏻♀️
We’ll have games, general knowledge science questions, slushy machines, popcorn and food! What’s better, is that the carnival will be running from 10am—3pm on Wednesday at the 302 Science Foyer - so slip in between lectures for a chance to win some prizes and meet some new people!
Thanks so much to for holding this amazing event 🥳 and make sure to check out the equally amazing clubs that will be joining alongside us for this event — all of whom, you can find if you swipe right ➡️! (Including us HEHE)
Hope to see you all there 🫶
