In 1991, an elderly white woman was murdered in a majority Black neighbourhood in Alabama. Rocky Myers lived across the street. Despite no evidence directly linking him to the crime scene and the retracted statement of a key witness, Rocky was convicted of her murder.
An overwhelmingly white jury found him guilty but recommended a life sentence. The judge instead sentenced him to death. Overruling a jury in this way is now illegal in Alabama.
His ex*****on could be scheduled at any time. Sign the petition and urge the governor of Alabama to grant clemency to Rocky.

Hey Christopher Luxon, just in case you didn’t see the front page today here is another reminder that it’s time to the right thing. Don’t wait any longer to call for a sustained ceasefire.
We need our Government to call for a sustained ceasefire to prevent further loss of civilian lives, and to ensure access to life-saving aid for people in Gaza amidst an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.
Use our tool to send an email to your local MP and the Prime Minister asking them to join the international call for a sustained ceasefire.
The unparalleled escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hamas and other armed groups has taken a devastating toll on civilians in Gaza. The level of casualties is unprecedented. Countless lives have been shattered, ripped apart, and upended.
Send Your Email Now Countless lives have been shattered, ripped apart, and upended.
The announcement of an initial four-day long humanitarian pause is a positive step and will bring a brief respite to more than 2 million civilians who have borne the brunt of Israel’s ruthless daily onslaught in the occupied Gaza Strip.
But far more action is needed to address ongoing suffering and injustice. Amnesty reiterates its call for a meaningful and effective ceasefire.
We reiterate our call for armed groups to immediately release all other civilians held hostage. Hostage taking is a war crime, those responsible must be held accountable.
A meaningful and effective ceasefire must cover the whole of the Gaza Strip and be of sufficient duration to allow for a substantive alleviation of suffering, the wounded to be properly taken care of and treated, the hospitals and clinics to be repaired and to receive essential materials.
Humanity must prevail. Not just a little bit of it.
DEMAND A CEASEFIRE TO END CIVILIAN SUFFERING.
Sign the petition to call for an immediate ceasefire by all parties to end civilian bloodshed and ensure humanitarian aid access to Gaza.

The shutdown of Gaza’s only power plant will exacerbate an already desperate humanitarian crisis for more than 2.2 million people trapped in the Gaza Strip. Israel 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 lift the illegal and inhumane blockade on Gaza as the power plant runs out of fuel.

10 years ago today, every New Zealander got the right to marry, regardless of their s*x, s*xual orientation or gender identity.
The Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Bill, colloquially known as the Marriage Equality Bill, passed on 17 April and then a few months later on 19 August 2013, it was made legal. This was a major achievement for LGBTQIA+ rights but it's not the end of the journey.
We still have a long way to go and must stand with our rainbow whānau who are still advocating for all their rights- not just the right to say, "I do."
