We’ve been super quiet here on the gram, but definitely not quiet in clinic. We’ve all been working flat tack and enjoying the busy pace. Here’s a sneak peek of one of our shots from last week. A busy yet happy with her girl gang ✌🏻 The reason for why I started 🤍 you are always capturing such beautiful moments in time ✨

It’s a thing ✌🏻 a vowel sound shorter than a short vowel, also know as a “lazy” vowel sound 😂 for example “a” in “alone”. I loved working on this with one of my clients this week ✨

😳 Can you spot the illegal building technique used in this warm up creation…… Can you see the flat brick that’s been wedge between the studs of another brick?! This is a big no no as it puts stress on the other brick 🚫 I swear, the day I told them about this was the day they started doing all these illegal moves 😂🤦🏻♀️

⭐️ LEGO Therapy ⭐️
In each of our therapy groups we have 3️⃣ different roles the kids take turns in. Today we’re looking at the role of the “Engineer”. It’s a key role as there’s a lot of communication between the Engineer and the two other roles. When there’s miscommunication this is where things can easily fall apart. The Engineer is required to follow the instructions and communicate to the Supplier as to what pieces they need and then once the Supplier finds them the Engineer communicates to the Builder where the bricks need to go. We’ve been finding that the kids find it tricky to communicate placement of the bricks so we guide them using visuals supports to try to encourage them to be as independent as possible 👌🏻

We’re excited to introduce to you our new 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 And of course in true Speech / Move Room style here are 1️⃣0️⃣ about our 👌🏻
🏞 I come from the bottom of the South Island in Southland.
🏖 My favourite thing about Auckland is the sunny summer weather and the beautiful beaches.
🧘♀️🤸♀️ I like to keep my body moving with different types of exercise - at the moment my favourite is yoga.
🐋 My favourite "sea animal" is a Hump Back whale. I can't choose a favorite land animal.
🐑 Growing up, I had a pet sheep named Midget. We lived in a small beach town and Midget used to escape from her paddock. She was always found wandering the beach streets!
🧁 I like cooking & baking
🛹 🏄♀️ I used to help coach an Occupational therapy skateboarding & surfing group.
🐠 If I had a super power, it would be to breathe underwater.
👦🏻👦🏻👦🏻I have three brothers & zero sisters.
🥊 I once did a charity boxing fight.

⭐️ TOY OF THE WEEK ⭐️
With this horrible weather and being stuck inside so much are a perfect way to keep our littlies entertained 👌🏻 it’s great to hide things within the beads, comment on their findings, work on early verbs (pour, scoop, tip, squish), make requests and so much more. Hours of fun to be had 🟡🟠🔴🟢🔵🟣

When you walk into clinic and find one of the therapist’s client’s creations 🥰✌🏻 great fine motor skills while targeting literacy and having fun 😂 TBH I have no idea what this was about but just love that the kids get joy out of the wall ✨

I love it when a session doesn’t go the way you had planned/thought 👌🏻 as therapists it’s so important we’re flexible and adapt promptly to these moments. Pull back cars back and forth under the couch was where it was at today with a kiddy, and so many more opportunities were presented in that moment too (including working on my aiming/directional skills 🤦🏻♀️🚗).

Soooooo many different textures, sizes, colours to comment on in this little sensory tray. Perfect for putting objects or target words in the eggs to discover and comment on, great for talking about same vs different egg colours, and with all the adjectives its awesome for working on sentence length expansion 🐣

Woop woop 🙌🏻 I see got for clinic to add to our collection of apps 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I’ve loved having a play around over the last few days and was so excited to discover the following:
▪️ there are loads of grid sets, loads 👌🏻
▪️ I ❤️ how easy the progressive language option is to use. With the different steps it takes no time to minimise/block the number of icons/buttons on the screen without changing the grid set.
▪️you can scroll on a page 🤩
▪️there are so many voices to choose from & you can change the pitch 👩🏻💼👨🏽💼👧🏼👦🏻
▪️you can record up to 60 seconds of audio 🎙
▪️you can customise a number of buttons at the same time 🟩🟦🟪🟧🟥🟨
Definitely a massive improvement from when I used it back when it first came out 12 - 13 years ago 🫣 (I’m showing my age 😂).
