We’ve had some wonderful feedback from you guys and rest assured, we will still be the traditional hostelry of old, pouring and providing a shelter from the storm. We’ve been lucky enough to glimpse some designs of the finished product and, apart from the water slide, retractable disco ball and bumper cars it will be back to the good old !
See you soon team x

Our Story
Our little bar's been open since 1870, when it was built by American sailor Edward Perkins, but it was originally a hotel and museum filled with pictures and trinkets. Over the years it turned into a restaurant and cafe, serving at times as the meeting point of bookmakers, a sporting centre, a businessman's haunt, and a bit of a rough one in the six o'clock swill years.
It became The Occidental Belgian Beer Cafe it now is in 1999, and ever since then we've been dishing out mussels and pouring pints for regulars, tourists and curious passers-by alike.
Welcome to our home!
