Our aim is to be New Zealand’s leading charitable trust, nationally recognised and respected for helping New Zealanders achieve great things in the community. We value integrity, compelling us to act honestly, ethically and transparently. For 35 years we have been working with NZ communities to make a difference. During this time we have granted over $950 million to support community projects acro
The Lion Foundation in conjunction with the Mt Wellington Licensing Trust provided a grant to the YMCA North towards aquiring equipment for the benefit of the community at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Panmure.
Last year the facility had 90,155 visitors which encouraged the team there to enhance the facility with new equipment for the community to use.
Some of the items pictured were well used during the last school holidays.

There is no magical number that you can apply for! There is no minimum or maximum amount you can apply for. However, please try not to rely on a grant from The Lion Foundation.
Funding decisions take a variety of factors into account:
- What other grant applications there are and how many pieces can the pie be cut into
- How much money is available (we cannot distribute more than we have available)
- Community benefit

We agree! Grant funding doesn't have to be about the glamourous stuff. Sometimes It is about ensuring essential community services can operate effectively.
We are really proud to be able to have supported Hospice Waikato with grant funding for this important system.

Our patient information management system is crucially important as it enables real-time access to patient information by all the medical people involved in the care of our patients. Thanks to The Lion Foundation for providing funding support for this system. It might not sound glamourous, but it is very, very important! We can't thank you enough for your support.

Rakaia Scouts
In the heart of a Rakaia, there stood a scout group that was on the brink of closure due to declining memberships. It wasn't until the help of a new group leader, a committee of parents and community members, that the Rakaia Scouts now have a strong membership, with 41 members, 12 Keas, 17 Cubs, six scouts, and six leaders.
In spite of their strong commitment within the troop, the group was in need of new tents since the current equipment was no longer suitable for the patrols to be able all sleep together on standing camp events, such as the annual zone camping competitions.

Ashburton Performing Arts Theatre Trust (APATT)
Ashburton Performing Arts Theatre Trust recognises that large-scale productions are more enjoyable in a well-resourced and up-to-date venue, which is why it was established to promote and encourage the growth of the Ashburton Event Centre.
As we know, technology is always evolving and after 16 years of operation, the Ashburton Event Centre is now beginning to fall behind and needs some major improvements to keep up with the latest technology, including sound, lighting, and audio-visual networking.

Tomorrow Friday (28 June 2024), Aotearoa New Zealand will celebrate Matariki.
Matariki is the star cluster commonly known as Pleiades in in the constellation Ta**us and is also the name of its brightest star (also known as Alcyone). There are many names for this cluster of stars around the world and it is significant to many different cultures.
In Aotearoa, the reappearance of Matariki in our early morning sky brings the past year to a close and heralds Te Mātahi o te Tau, the Māori New Year.
It is a time to:
• Remember – Honour those who have passed since the last rising of Matariki
• Celebrate the present – Get together to give thanks for what we have
• Look to the future – Look forward to the promise of a new year.
The Lion Foundation wishes everyone a safe and happy Matariki weekend.
