Looking cute, snacking, and playing with his favourite toys – it’s all in a day’s work for Dandelion, but he just hasn’t found his perfect match yet 😢
Known as a champion snuggle king by our Māngere Centre team, this boy loves nothing more than a good ol' head pat. He just wants to find his forever person – and we're hoping they come with his forever bunny soulmate, too.
If you think you could give Dandelion the love and affection he so deserves, register to adopt him today! https://www.spca.nz/adopt/animal/469681/rabbit-dandelion-auckland

We saw Suzi trying to play with the lambs on her walk today and just HAD to share this video with you guys! 😆 She was very confused why they didn't want to play with her 💔 While she won't make the best farm dog, she would be the perfect companion for an active family who will play with her to her heart's content 🥰
Suzi has been with us for couple months and is still looking for her forever family. We can't believe she is still here! 🥺 Due to her rambunctious personality, she will need someone with the knowledge to teach her to become the best girl she can be.
Suzi is available to adopt from our Mangere centre. If you are interested in meeting and potentially taking her home, please put an application though on our website! 🩷

SPCA Hobsonville Centre temporarily closing for much-anticipated refurbishment • SPCA New Zealand Our Hobsonville Centre will be closing temporarily to the public from 1 September for a refit that will increase capacity, improve facilities, and provide a fit-for-purpose Centre.
It's lambing season 🐑💕 These little guys came into our care as they didn't have the best start in life, but we couldn't wait to share their cuteness!!
Our staff had to be creative and repurpose dog jackets to keep these lambs warm over winter 🏠💙
While these guys aren't available for adoption just yet, you are welcome to contact our Mangere Centre and leave an expression of interest 🥰
❤ DONATIONS WE'D LOVE ❤
SPCA Mangere is in desperate need of
• Towels
• Sheets & Linen
• Blankets
• Slow feeders for dogs & puppies
• Wet and dry dog and puppy food for community support programs
• Wet and dry kitten food for community support programs
• Dog toys
• Hard plastic dog beds
Even though the winter season is coming to an end, we noticed since the animals at our shelter have gone through a lot of blankets and towels over the last couple weeks due to the cold weather, that we only have a handful of these left at our centre - and we still have a couple weeks left until Spring!
We would really appreciate that if you have any of these items lying around or don't use anymore to donate them to us! We will happily accept them at our centre reception at 50 Westney Road, Mangere. We are open every day between 10am-4pm ❤️

Which pup would your best friend take home? 🐶🐾
Comment below!
Here's a little shoutout to just a few of the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption at our Mangere centre 💕 While some of them are still new to the shelter life, we have a lot of dogs who have unfortunately been having trouble finding their forever homes 🥺 Will you or your friend be taking one home?
To know more about these dogs and puppies featured in this video, head on over to our website! 💗

🐶 Meet Kahu 🐾
We can't believe this little guy is still looking for his forever family! Kahu and his siblings came to our shelter back in February as 6 week old puppies with no mum in sight.
It's now been 5 months and Kahu has been patiently waiting while each and every one of his siblings has been adopted.
Kahu doesn't understand why no one wants to adopt him, so we remind him daily that he's the best boy 💚🐶
Kahu is looking for a home with a confident leader who will take him on adventures and daily walks 🐕🦴 A secure backyard is a must as this guy loves to explore. If you have sensible older children or even an older canine friend, Kahu would love to hear from you! 💕
He is currently out in foster care so please register to adopt below so we can organize a meet and greet! 💙🐾

We are currently experiencing the calm before the storm that is our next kitten season 😸🐾🐈
As kitten season comes to a close, we have only a couple cats remaining still waiting for their forever homes at our Mangere centre – but it won’t be long before kitten season starts back up again in summer ☀️ So keep your jittery hearts at ease and get ready for summer when we have another kitten comeback towards the end of the year!
If you are looking to adopt when kitten season starts up again, don’t forget to put an application through on our website then so we can secure you in for an appointment! 😊

UPDATE: All three pups have found homes! Thank you all for your support 💕
Bella, Bambi and Beau are the most adorable trio at our SPCA Mangere Centre 🐶🐾 Abandoned at just 4 weeks old, they were dumped in a box at a local park. Luckily a kind member of public found them and they were able to get the care they needed 💕 While Bella has already found her forever home, Beau and Bambi are still patiently waiting.
Beau is a handsome boy who is extremely well-mannered and patient with both humans and dogs alike 🐾 He is also highly intelligent and has picked up training very quickly!
Bambi on the other hand is a pretty princess who loves all the attention 🩷🌸 Whether its giving her cuddles or holding the treats, you're her new best friend and she can't get enough.
Both pups have the most gorgeous natures and personalities. So, please get in touch if you are wanting to add one of these bundles of joy to your family 🥰🐶

We'd like to give a huge shoutout to Benjamin! 🙌
This 14-year-old from Auckland has been learning about the importance of enrichment for animals, and once he realised that SPCA is always in need of toys, he jumped at the chance to help.
During the July school holidays, Benjamin spent over three days making 100 plaited tug toys. On top of that, as part of the Duke of Edinburgh, he’s spent four months making pom poms, paper fan toys and mouse tunnels for the animals in our care ❤️
Benjamin says, “It feels good knowing these toys bring happiness while the animals wait for their forever homes. It’s a small way for me to make a big difference in their lives.” 😍
Thank you so much, Benjamin! Instructions can be found for making enrichment toys here: https://kids.spcaeducation.org.nz/get-involved/things-to-make-or-do/
We'd like to give a shoutout to Jet Park Hotel, who recently ran a "Bring your kids to work day" and brought a group of 19 children into our Animal Village at the Mangere centre 🐶🐾 They had an absolute BLAST with our animals and even made a bunch of wonderful tug toys! 🥰
On behalf of all our animals, we would like to say a huge thank you! 💖
Introducing Oakley 🐾
As kitten season comes to an end, the cats left in our care tend to be the older kittens and adults that are often overlooked. Oakley is unfortunately one of these kittens!💔
At 4 months old, Oakley is still waiting for his forever family. He is the type of kitten that would rather be busy playing and climbing cat towers than curled up on your lap. He can be a bit shy at first, preferring to observe you from afar. But once he gains his confidence, he is a purring machine and a master biscuit maker!
Oakley is looking for a family that will accept him for who he is - which is not a cuddle bug! If you can offer him a quiet home full of ping pong balls, kitten circles and scratching posts, please get in touch today!

🐾💚 Fred Appreciation Post 🐶🐾
Our handsome boy Fred has been ready for adoption for more than 60 days and not a single person has come down to meet him! 💔
He is an absolute trick master who has learnt sit, touch, spin, and jump, just to name a few! He has an active mind and is looking for a home who can challenge him and give him plenty of physical exercise. 🌞
Ideally, Fred would be your only pet so he can soak up all the attention he deserves! He would also do well in a home with an older calmer dog. ☘️
If you're looking for a loyal companion and a hiking buddy to take on adventures, please register to adopt Fred today!

UPDATE: We are pleased to say Snowball found her forever home yesterday afternoon 🐱🐾Big thank you for your interest and your help finding this girl her purrfect family!
It’s hard to believe this gorgeous lady is still waiting to find her furever home 💔
Snowball is one of the sweetest girls we have at our centre. Being 7 years old, she is ready to kick back, relax and spend her day lazing under the sun. All she really needs is food, love, a cozy bed, and a roof above her head 🥰
She is happy to cuddle up with you on the couch, binge your favourite TV shows together, and receive all the pets and scratches she can before eventually drifting off to sleep on your lap 💤
Can you open up space in your heart and home to adopt Snowball into a new loving family? Apply to adopt her today using the link below! 💕

❤️ Special love needed! ❤️ From today until Sunday 21 July, there are ZERO adoption fees for our longest-waiting residents.
We have countless animals in our care that have been waiting a long time to find their forever families 😢 Some may be a bit older, some may have health or dietary needs, or some may simply be a bit shy. For these special animals, we’re removing all adoption fees in order to find their forever homes.
All of our usual adoption vetting processes still apply, so we can ensure every animal finds the right home for their specific needs.
To view all of their profiles, head over to our website today: www.spca.nz/longstayadoptions 🥰 Remember to look for the 'Special Love Needed' badge on their profile which indicates they’re a long-stay animal!
Let’s put an end to their waiting, and get them home!
Bonnie and her siblings came to us when they were just 4 weeks old. Five months later, nearly all of her siblings have found their forever homes! However, Bonnie is still waiting for a family to choose her. She is often overlooked as she was the smallest of the litter, but what she lacks in size she makes up for in personality!
If you can provide a loving home for Bonnie please follow the link below and register to adopt today!

We'd like to give a special shout out to Karyn and the team from Mr Minit Albany, who have had an SPCA donation box at their business since 2011. They've recently reached an incredible $10,000 in donations for SPCA over this time! ❤️
We can't thank Karyn and her customers enough for their generous donations, which will do so much to help the animals in our care! 😸🐶
From the tiniest of puppies to a growing, healthy boy 🥹
Harold only weighed 1kg when he came to us – so we knew it was crucial for him to do some growing. After spending time in foster care, he recently returned to our Hobsonville Centre to get ready for adoption, and our team was floored at his transformation. He’s grown into a strong, healthy young pup!
Our foster carers are an amazing group of people that do great work for our animals. This , Harold is just one example of the results their love, care, and time can provide. If you’ve ever thought about providing a temporary home for an SPCA animal, you can find out more about the process here: https://www.spca.nz/volunteer/foster
Dearest gentle reader, this author wishes to relay the delightfully adorable presence of not one, not two, but FIVE Bridgerton siblings at SPCA’s Māngere Centre 🐷
Daphne, Colin, Benedict, Eloise, and Francesca humbly request a space in your heart. As you curl up with new episodes of Bridgerton this evening, may we suggest bringing a touch of the show home with you?
Ever the Diamond of the season, Daphne’s profile is up on our site: https://www.spca.nz/adopt/animal/607402/pig-daphne-auckland 💎 Get in touch with our Centre staff to learn more about these newest members of the ton!
SPCA Pets of the Year is back for another year! 📸
We’re on the search for the stars of our 2025 SPCA Calendars, and it’s time for the competition to begin! This year we have two calendar categories – cats and dogs 🐈🐕
Choose your favourite photo of your feline friend or canine companion, and use it to create a picture-pawfect profile over at www.spca.nz/poty24.
Share their profile with friends, family and colleagues and let the voting commence! Every vote raises vital funds for the thousands of animals that come into our care each year. All entries that raise $150 or more by the closing date is guaranteed a spot in the calendar too!
With some amazing prizes up for grabs from our sponsor OPPO New Zealand, dust off your camera and get snapping! Learn more at the link above.
Have you signed the petition yet to protect the ban on live exports? 🙏🐄 There’s less than a week to go!
The petition can be signed at our SPCA Op Shops in Glenn Innes, Devonport, Milford, Onehunga, Ponsonby, Silverdale and Beachlands – be sure to stop by and add your name!
If you don’t have time to visit in person, you can still sign online here: https://petitions.parliament.nz/79ff1ae2-f2e8-43c5-6c98-08dc33f5abe2
Remember, the petition closes this Friday 14 June, so let's raise our voices for the animals and make sure this horrific practice never returns.
Our current Hobsonville Centre puppy squad is ready for a weekend of play 🎾🐶
We hope you’re enjoying your Saturday, wherever you are!
Did you know that New Zealand's ban on live exports by sea is under threat?
According to our survey, 63% of the New Zealand public aren't aware that the Government is planning to reverse our world-leading ban 😧 This would be a national embarrassment, and a huge step backwards for animal welfare in New Zealand.
Photographs taken on board live export ships show the horrific conditions these animals are forced to suffer through. Cramped spaces, standing in their own urine and faeces, many are subjected to extreme temperatures and suffer from heat stress.
There's less than three weeks left to sign the petition ❤️ Please speak up for the animals that can't speak for themselves by adding your name here: https://petitions.parliament.nz/79ff1ae2-f2e8-43c5-6c98-08dc33f5abe2
We’d like to give a shout out to Farm Cove Intermediate School, who recently ran a bake sale to raise money for the animals here at SPCA! ❤️ They managed to raise an amazing $450, and donated towels and blankets too.
Our Inspectors stopped by the school to receive this greatly appreciated donation, and were able to spend some time teaching the students about animal care 🐶🐱 We had our fur-friend Cooper here to be part of a demonstration on how to approach dogs safely (and to always ask the dog owner for permission!)
Thank you to the students and teachers at Farm Cove, and to our Inspectors 🙌
Auckland dog owners – do you have any spare kennels that you can donate to SPCA? 🐶
It’s not just the dogs in our care at the Centre that we look out for, but dogs out in the community too. We sometimes come across pet owners struggling, and we want to make sure that their dogs are safe and sheltered, especially as the colder weather kicks in. This is where your donated kennels come in ❤️
We’re looking for all shapes and sizes! If you have a kennel that’s in good condition, these can be dropped directly to our Māngere or Hobsonville Centres between 10am-4pm, or if you have one that you need us to collect please email [email protected].
Thank you on behalf of the animals! 🙏
