Our Story
Women in Health Network (WiHN) nurtures the next generation of women health professionals.
Although the health sector is a women-dominated field, gender disparities in the form of pay gaps, uneven opportunities for advancement, and unbalanced representation in leadership and decision-making negatively impact on societal equity and health sector efficiency.
WiHN is a community of health students and professionals enabling women to have a fair and fulfilling experience in the health sector. The fostering of a cross-discipline, intergenerational network ensures this effort extends across our diverse health sector.
WiHN achieves its aim in two ways:
1) WiHN Events Programme: a variety of workshops, guest speaker events and networking opportunities throughout the year. All women and men welcome.
2) WiHN Mentoring Programme: the matching up of 1st year students enrolled in Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences and Nursing with women currently studying their intended relative specialty degree (Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Optometry or Pharmacy). All 1st year Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences and Nursing students at the University of Auckland welcome.
Women of all ages in all health-related pursuits are welcome to join the network by signing up here: http://eepurl.com/c3pcbj
