This show will be held in conjunction with the Little Welsh Dragon Fun Ribbon Day for young riders and their ponies (registered and unregistered Welsh welcome).

Entry forms will be available in the next couple of months and Judges will be listed as soon as they are finalized.

The grounds are looking fabulous for Sunday.
We will take any late entries on the day, between 8.00 and 8.30am. Payment by cash only. I will be parked close to the ring entrance in the back paddock (at the end of the yards, past the big trees, by the houses). There are a few wasps about, if you are allergic, please bring your own medication 😊

We are thrilled to announce we are running a Waikato Welsh ring at the Te Aroha Hack and Hunters Morrison Brothers Memorial Open Ribbon Day. This will be held on Sunday 9th April at their grounds in Waihou. While it isn't a full show, we look forward to welcoming entries for the 12 classes on offer.
We will finalize the schedule in the next day or two and welcome any questions or queries. After the welsh ring is completed, Te Aroha Hack and Hunters are running a range of ridden sections on their lovely grounds, for those wishing to make a full day of it and compete under saddle.

Our small committee of two haven't had much luck of late. Demands on our time, illness and subsequent loss of stock and now health issues, very sadly dictate that we will be unable to to proceed with our Summer Show as planned in January. We will keep an open mind as to whether we may be able to run later in the season, but if not, will hold our Youngstock Show as planned in May.

Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, we are unable to run our fundraiser ribbon day on December 4th.
We are hoping to run it in the New Year, date and time to be advised 😊

We are excited to announce that our upcoming Fundraiser Ribbon Day will be held on December 4th at the Waihou Recreational Reserve.
This will be followed by our first ever Summer Show to be held on 28 January 2023 at the same venue.

Lost today in the carpark at the Waikato Welsh Foal and Youngstock Show, a brown journal. This is a very treasured item and it's owners would really appreciate its return. Please message if you know anything about it.

Waikato Welsh was established by Maureen Harvey and Hayley Kinley with the intent to offer more ‘Showing’ opportunities for those amongst us that not only love breeding and producing our Welsh Pure & Partbred ponies and cobs but also want more Welsh Shows on the Annual Showing Calendar. This way we can compliment those shows that are already available during the season.

Before setting out on this new venture we did our due diligence on the Foal & Youngstock shows and dates that were normally going to take place at this time … It turned out that two of those were not looking likely to be held this season… So the decision was made to have the Waikato Welsh Foal & Youngstock Show the weekend after the NIWP&C Youngstock Show so if the other two shows did happen to take place, there was still room in the calendar for them. Of course we would love to see all of these shows running in the future, that way there would be a Series of four shows in the Waikato autumn for Foals & Youngstock… This would give both breeders and producers, old and new, something to plan for each season.

Going forward we hope to hold a couple of ‘Fun Ribbon Days ‘ that have both In-hand and Ridden Classes to encourage children and new competitors into ‘Welsh ownership and competition’… Followed up later in the summer with another Waikato Welsh Show for registered ponies.

Our sole aim is to help promote our ‘Beautiful Welsh Breed’ and provide more showing events to ‘Showcase’ them… Thus giving them more value to the breeders… C**t foals should be seen as an opportunity by ‘Producers’ to purchase off the Breeders… this in turn helps promote the Welsh and Studs name in showrings across the country... These youngstock need good starts to become ‘Great Childrens ponies’ for young riders in the future…

Welsh ponies have been enjoyed by young and old for generations … we just want to help encourage more people into the Welsh breed.
