Eight-year-old Lycan is an intelligent boy with a busy mind. He has the capacity to learn much quicker than other people, which presents some unique challenges. Lycan has been diagnosed with ADHD and displays several traits of autism.

Tragically, at just 18 months old, Lycan also suffered the trauma of witnessing his father pass away in front of him. His mum, Erina, says that this caused him to practically stop eating and develop an extremely restrictive diet.

Erina says, “He needs to be under supervision at all times because the mixture of frustration and overstimulation in the classroom can lead to him lashing out.”

With the frustration of living in five houses in five years due to a tough rental market, Satan’s Little Helper asked how we could help. Erina said that a few art supplies would be useful for when Lycan needs to be alone and calm his racing mind—and we loved that idea!

“I draw every time I feel angry, and I know that when I do, it’ll help me feel better. Art helps to calm me down and keeps me calm." 🍕🖤

Two-year-old Lily has cystic fibrosis (CF), which means her lungs don’t work as they should. CF is a genetic disorder that mainly affects the lungs and digestive system. The body produces a thick, sticky mucus that can lead to repeated chest infections due to bacteria and fungus becoming trapped within it.

“Since her diagnosis at six-weeks-old, she’s had frequent hospital appointments, yearly blood tests and x-rays,” explains her mum Niketia. “In January this year, she was hospitalised and ended up in the intensive care unit due to a sodium imbalance caused by dehydration.”

One way that Lily can make sure she doesn’t need to do as much intense physical therapy is to stay active, which is also great for helping improve lung function. But when you’re two years old, exercise can be a bit boring – so, Satan’s Little Helper partnered with Jumpflex Trampolines to send Lily a state-of-the-art trampoline for free!

“Lily absolutely loves it,” says Niketia. “She wants to go on it all the time – even when it’s raining! It burns off a lot of her energy and, when she uses it, she’s helping her body to disperse the mucus in her lungs, which means she doesn’t have to rely on physio work to break it up 🍕🖤
