The Dunedin Festival of Women's Art & Music aims to amplify and develop the voices of Dunedin’s women artists and musicians and provide space to celebrate and nourish women’s creative expression.
Kia ora wahine, Just to let you all know that Heather, Fiona and myself ( Deirdre ) have decided to make The Festival a once every 2 year thing...Our Tri-Pod collective feeling is that we would rather have our event at a time when things felt like they can flow, rather than under the current Level 2 restrictions....Love to you all and stay tuned to this beautiful site. Don't stop your creativity, hone your craft... and when we all get together again we will kick some metaphorical butt. D xoxo :)

Good Morning everyone! This is it...today is the day. Hope you all had a hearty breakfast to keep your strength up! I started the day with a Mr Renouf croissant filled with goodness. Anyhoo, hence my phone is now deaded ( ish..it is living in a bag of rice at Tony's house ) If you need anything, Good Luck!! I will see you out there. I do love you tho!!! Dunedin Festival of Women's Art & Music : Dunedin Fringe Festival A micro-festival celebrating Dunedin women's artistic and musical creativity showcasing a woman only line-up, offering a complementary alternative to other notable Dunedin Festivals.
D:MR are an offshoot/subset/Feminist Bass Players Liberation Movement, from the band Tiny
Pieces of Eight. Rosa Cameron, Upright Acoustic Bass/Keyboards and Deirdre Newall, Electric
Standup Bass, Keyboards, Egg, Percussion, Pump Organ, Strumstick, and vocals. Newall is a keen amateur songwriter.
Their style of music is dreamy, whimsical, bass- driven, full of space and grind, and sometimes
downright wonky...Wonky-Tonk!
With a combined background of Dunedin bands, Delgirl and Skybus, they are firmly rooted in the Folk tradition, but unafraid to innovate.

Here's a wee bit more info about Adelaide Cara who will be performing at the festival on Saturday:
Ōtepoti songwriter/producer Adelaide Cara broke into the local music scene with their work on Repulsive Woman's album ‘Relief’ (Auckland Live Best Independent Debut, 2020 Taite Music Awards) and as the lead singer for post-punk band Milpool. Cara has since been working on the release of their debut album, 'How Does This Sound?', due for release in 2021. The first single ‘Paranoia!’ was released in August 2020 to high praise, reaching #19 on the NZ Hot Singles Chart, and #1 on the Student Radio Network (SRN) Top Ten. Their second single 'Eden' followed in November, a love-letter penned to their hometown, Ōtepoti.
Unfortunately Neive Strang is no longer able to be part of DFestWAM this year. We hope you recover quickly from your tonsillectomy, Neive! Hugs from Deirdre, Heather and Fiona
Adelaide Cara will be performing at DFestWAM at 3.30pm. Catch her on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/_adelaidecara/, Facebook https://www.facebook.com/adelaidecaramusic, and Bandcamp https://adelaidecara.bandcamp.com/!

Kirsten Wenborn decided at age 6 to be an artist when she grew up. And she did! Kirsten draws and photographs animals and nature, and her paintings incorporate these themes.
As does the place she lives - off the grid on 50 acres with her husband and daughter, horses, chickens, and a cat.
Human Confusion - Miriam Leslie and Elenor Rayner - may come from different musical scenes, but together their music entirely defies traditional genre labelling so a new one has been carved, Velvet Swoon Tech!

https://humanconfusion.bandcamp.com/
Human Confusion Strong velvety vocals of Spinster's Miriam Leslie, mixed with lush electronica produced by Elenor Rayner of Robots In Love. Emerging from the heart of Dunedin's diverse music culture, Human Confusion is the perfect mix of dance-worthy grooves and rich melodies. They love a stonkin' bass and the joy....
One of my favourite humans....Julie Dunn. Along with Ashleigh they are Flesh Bug...they are working on a killer set for the Festival. I have this from a very reliable source....by the way Fleah Bug is a misnomer.
Fleah Bug perform at The Crown, Dunedin NZ on 22 August 2020
The rock and roll end of the Festival....Human Susan. Looking forward to hearing them very much!
Here's the musical lineup for DFestWAM. This festival is going to be a fantastic celebration of Dunedin women and their art and music. This is a family friendly festival and is open to all.
