Meet Ruby, Waddles our sponsor Penguins chick! Welcome to the Locals whānau Ruby 🐧
This is Ruby
and it is Garry Sobers and Waddles's chick. It has already left the nest - and sitting next to it with one of its parents while the other one is out fishing.
This is Waddles and she is Locals hoiho penguin that we sponsor! Waddles originally hatched in the Caitlins but emigrated to Moeraki as a juvenile, like lots of our Locals students becoming a part of our community by moving to Dunedin.
Waddles is currently looking after her 2 eggs waiting for them to hatch and for us to have baby penguins 🐧 We think the hoiho is pretty amazing, if you do too then you can vote for it as bird of the century https://www.birdoftheyear.org.nz/?fbclid=IwAR261AbW8gu1u_0bHvKO8aLPB1z2tsSIu7Zp-poM1FS6u-QM9Yu5NJRFAao
