Let’s talk air! 💨

We are refreshing our approach to managing air quality — and it starts with you.

We have identified potential approaches to manage air quality and would like to hear what you think.

You can give your feedback in three ways:
• Come to one of our drop-in sessions throughout Otago
• Join one of two online sessions on Monday, 5 August
• Fill out a survey online.

While Otago’s air quality has improved over the past 20 years, our science data shows the need to do more.

It’s your opportunity to chat with us and give your thoughts on what could be done to improve air quality in your community and across Otago.

Learn more and have your say:
www.orc.govt.nz/freshair

Your feedback will influence how we manage air quality in the future.

Tag and share this info with people you think would be interested in finding out more about Otago’s air and sharing their thoughts.

The new kerbside collection has started from July 1st, and there is an app to go with it.

Have you tried the app yet? What’s your favourite feature?

The city’s new kerbside recycling collection service has begun. Putting out your new bins is easy!

Your kerbside collection day stays the same and bins still go out before 7am.

On your usual yellow-lidded mixed recycling bin collection day, put out your green-lidded food scraps and garden waste bin, too.

On your usual glass recycling day, put out your blue bin beside your new red-lidded rubbish bin and your green-lidded bin.

So, yellow goes out with green, and blue goes out with red and green.

Awesome to see the Brighton Volunteer Fire Brigade celebrating 60 years of hard work serving their community.

This month we celebrate our 60th Jubilee.

The Brighton Volunteer Fire Brigade has been proudly serving the local community for nearly 60 years. Since its inception, this dedicated group of volunteers has played a crucial role in fire protection and emergency response. As part of our celebrations, we will be hosting an Open Day to the general public between 10-12pm on June 15th. Come and have a look around our station and meet our team. We look forward to seeing you.

We are running short of big/long curtains and would love some more! In particular we would like curtains of a dark plain colour.

If you have multiple sets of the same curtains (“house lots”) that are ALSO long, that would be ideal - but we’ll take either, as long as they are in good condition, and mould-free.

For more info about how to donate curtains to Dunedin Curtain bank please see our website : https://dunedincurtainbank.org.nz/donate/

Thanks so much for supporting those in need in our community to have drier, warmer homes.

It's back to school for many children in our community today.

This is your reminder that everyone has an important part to play when it comes to road safety, particularly around schools.

When travelling near schools remember:
🚌 The speed limit around most schools in Dunedin is 30km/h
🚗 Be extra alert in case a child runs out in front of you without warning.
🚲Be aware that there will be children on the roads cycling to and from school. Give them space and share the road.

A message to the community from Michelle at the Mosgiel Community Foodbank:

Good morning everyone. There are so many words to describe last night and I’m not sure where to begin.
Firstly I would like to say thank you to our most amazing community. Not just Mosgiel, all surrounding areas.
Times are really tough but everyone has come together to make sure we help our neighbour. You guys are incredible.
To our team. What a team. Thank you for supporting us and seeing the need, coming together to make it happen. Collectors, sorters, lifters, caterers, sponsors, emergency services. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Thank you so much.
