The "Pinoy NZ" Nurse | Author of "I'm Sorry, I beg your pardon?" book.
If you are working 5 days/8 hours a week.
That is 16 hours left on your day minus 8 hours for sleeping - 8 hours nalang!
Estimating the commute, ligo, kain, o kahit anong necessity to do sa araw-araw mo, most likely 4 hours nlng matitira sau?
if you are spending the last 4 hours on social media - better ask yourself if nakakatulong ba 'yong 4 hours of social media sa ambitions and self improvement mo.
I have learned from a reading a book, as it says "kung hindi mo alam gamitin ang isang bigay to make yourself more valuable, better remove it because sooner of later it will destroy you"
When I started following the advice, I can finished up reading a book in 2-3 days, had more time with my wife and the most important things in my life.
If you haven't try it. Why don't you?
Write your goals, ambitions and 'yong mga can't live without mo sa buhay and whatever is hindering to achieving what you have written tanggalin mo, hanggat matira nlng ung importante sayo.

How easy?
Sagutin mo 'to.
1. How much have my life changed 5-10 years ago?
2. Do I have any health problems? Any diagnosed sickness?
3. How are my extremities? Do I have two arms and legs? Am I able to move freely? Do I have pain anywhere in my body?
4. How often do I eat? 3-4 times daily, depending on my hunger. Can I afford to eat at any given time?
5. How about my access to clean water? Can I drink as much as I can? Be full whenever time of the day I wish.
6. Do I just turn on the switch whenever I need a light, the air conditioning or the heater to be at peace at night?
7. Do I still have my family, friends, and people I can say “Hi” to or share memories with?
8. How about my decisions in life? Freedom of choice? Am I educated on how to read and write?
9. Am I living today? Do I have a purpose in life?
Kapag nasagot mo ang 9 questions with mostly postive answers. Good!!
You have all the gifts in the world to be great, kahit sa tingin natin simpleng bagay.
To be the greatest parent, most supporting partner, friend and etc.
Complain less and make the best out of what is given to you.
Just saying...
Mabuhay kayong lahat!
As you age, your mind says different than what your body does.
Meaning?
I learned this lesson from my surgeon when he decided to retire as early as 55 years old.
Hindi dahil hindi na niya kaya, pero as he said it best:
"There’s more to life than working. I had missed a lot of journeys behind. I don't want to lose another more in the next years ahead. I had enough money stored; I can work more, but what for?”.
He added, “I can afford to pay for any adventure/activity in my life today, but given my physical condition, I am old. I cannot risk it anymore.”
Many of us thinks na "Gastos lang yan o bukas nlng pag nagkapera"
Pero natutunan ko na our health and time is more valuable.
As a human being, we always wanted more.
Dahil hindi habambuhay nasa same situation ka, season ang buhay kaya make the best out of it.
Learn to appreciate being single, being married, and having kids.
Now, I am on the stage of being recently married.
I am not adventurous myself. Yet, I am thankful to be blessed to have a wife who is.

• verbally abusive or degrading language or gestures
• shouting, yelling, or screaming
• unexplained rages
• unjustified criticism and insults, nit-picking, and fault-finding without justification
• constant humiliation, ridicule, and belittling remarks
• unreasonable threats of dismissal or other disciplinary procedures
Covert bullying
Examples:
• deliberately overloading an employee with work and imposing impossible deadlines
• sabotaging someone's work by withholding required information
• hiding documents or equipment
• constantly changing targets or work guidelines
• not providing appropriate resources and training.
• isolating or ignoring someone consistently
• malicious teasing, practical jokes, gossiping
• excessive criticism on a regular and systematic basis
• malicious freezing out, excluding and/or not speaking to someone
These examples are all given by New Zealand Nurses Organization (NZNO).
if na-experience mo to, please ask for help.
At kung may bagong nurses kayong kasama
na sa tingin ninyo kailangan ng boses, Speak out for them.

Lesson of life..
Read books > copy what works > sort out according to your identity > read more and the cycle goes on.
Until what you know becomes fitting to your OWN identity.
Knowledge is power yet only if use accordingly.
Happy Friday!
Figure out your own life's puzzle then everything will start to make sense.
Lesson learned as an OFW.
We have the ability to change the course of our lives and the next generation after kaya itinigil na natin ang Filipino mentality na maging "Gatasan" ang mga magiging anak natin.
Pero paano?
To learn how to save for retirement.
Work to enjoy what's today without forgetting that there is tomorrow.
Tatanda ka. Hindi ka habang buhay bata. As always mentioned by my father to me.
Nakarinig na ko ng hinaing nila na;
"Kung naisip ko lang noon na magipon"
"Akala ko kasi..."
"Hindi ako makaalis ng trabaho kasi walang ipon"
At marami pang iba.
Iwasan natin ang pagkakamali ng nakaraan.
Be a responsible human being to yourself.
Be a thoughtful parent, too. Let your children sole responsibility is to follow their God given gift.

Let me share mine.
My father is an undergraduate, who was given the opportunity to work overseas for years juggling four jobs, 16 hours a day and 7 days a week. No rest day in between, Para lang makapagpadala saamin.
My mother was left responsible for taking care of the house; inside came four of their children, and she took care of them all on her own.
When my parents started living together. They were both poor, undergraduate, and young. However, as little as they had, they made sure to give more to the family.
Our easiness in life today became possible because of them. They made the next generation better than they were.
The answer is just one call or a tap away.
Therefore, during tough times of living abroad, starting your own family through solitary, heartbreak, homesickness, hardships, and negative circumstances in life. Be persistent and strong like your parents.
Our parents can quit, but never once did.
Our parents could just walk away, but it wasn't their moral.
Our parents could have just left us on the streets, but it's just not who they are.
Our parents had suffered, conquered, and endured life more than we can imagine.
Have you known them enough to mimic what they did to overcome?

Life....
Taong puro pasaya sa kasalukuyan at walang pakielam sa kinabukasan?
Meet nurse Kyla aka "The YOLO"
Yolo meaning You'll Only Live Once"
Mostly known to sa mga kabataan.
YOLO” is a now-or-never attitude, to live life like tomorrow never existed.
Gastos dito, Gastos doon.
Swipe here and there
Nurse Kyla is willing to risk her finances and life for that worthy experience, the feeling of getting a new purse, the joy of tasting an explicit cuisine at an expensive restaurant, or the rush of doing life-threatening activities.
Her instagram posts is everyone's bucket list ika nga.
It's not possible. So, she cannot do anything but to have faith.
Another life lesson as an immigrant.
Don't be like Nurse Kyla.
Tama nga naman that You'll Only Live Once, pero live responsibly.
Enjoy the present and prepare for the future mishaps, katulad ng emergency fund topic na I posted recently.
As an nurse immigrant, nabigyan tayo ng opportunity to help and less likely the reciever of help. So, kailangan natin to make use of the blessing na binigay saatin ng Panginoong Diyos.

Minsan nasa ibabaw, minsan nasa Ilalim.”
Living is difficult and sometimes it sucks, lalo na kapag minamalas ka.
Swerte mo kapag may tutulong sayo, eh pano kung wala?
An eye opener sakin during the Covid Pandemic noong maraming nawalan ng hanapbuhay na hindi na makabayad ng basic life necessities katulad ng kuryente, tubig, pagkain at renta.
Saklap no?
So, a very good solution for me is to save money for an emergency fund.
Ano nga ba ang emergency fund?
Emergency fund is a stashed money prepared for necessities in life in case any unprecedented occurrences that can affect our way of making money strikes – such as health problems – cancer related, laid-off from work, earthquakes, accidents, and many more.

I have met one and meet my friend/colleague nurse Ramon or better called "The WORKAHOLIC"
Nothing against him. As a matter of fact, favorite nurse ko siya at ng lahat.
He is the best guy to swap the weekends with, the nurse to call when someone calls in sick. He, amongst everybody, deserves to have a statue named after him at the hospital's entrance.
kaso meron siyang motto, "Work hard, but Party/spend harder! I deserve this/that".
As simply said, the more he work hard, the more he deserve to have the things or what he want in life.
He is willing to work extra, pick up shifts and on-call on weekends, para makakuha ng pera to splurge it the next day.
Pero dapat naman talaga, hindi ba?
But his life was a lesson for me, Why?
Rule of money, it does not matter how much you make, but how much you keep.
If I can work less to give time to rest, to spend time with my wife and/or to educate myself para ma- perfect ang craft ko. I would rather have less, but be more.
It's just up to you and me what to sacrifice.
The more I know, the more contented I become.

May kakilala ka bang pinoy nurse na dinaig pa ang Western Union sa lupet mg convert ng pera from dollar to peso?
If wala pa, then meet my friend Carlos (not his real name)
Carlos, AKA the "CURRENCY CONVERTER" ang tawag ko sakanya. Sobrang lupet neto, promise!
Bakit?
kasi every time he buys something, he first negotiates and calculates the price conversion from the dollar to the Philippine peso.
Another excuse is "Wala akong pera," kahit kakakuha pa lang ng sweldo niya ah.
No one knows how much is expensive or cheap for him since he treats everything the same. Ang matindi gusto niya palaging libre.
He only wants to get stuff unless it is free. He likes Netflix, but only if the account is borrowed from someone paying for it.
Sino ba ayaw sa libre hindi ba?
But, I don't mean to judge. Wala akong pakielam sa buhay niya. Pero lesson learned to sakin as an OFW.
Why?
Apart from enjoying what you earned, which is tumaas ang sweldo natin as an migrant nurse. Another is, you attract what you are - Law of attraction concept.
Kung tingin mo palagi wala kang pera, the mindset stops from there. Rather than, okay wala akong pera pero paano ako magkakapera?
Living and working outside the Philippines gives us more opportunity especially as registered nurses. You are way more capable now than before.
I say this, because when I reflected myself. Somehow ganto din ako and something has to change.
Natuto akong gumastos sa tamang paraan on my necessities and wants. I invested on myself kasi wala naman gagastos para sa sarili mo kung hindi ikaw lang.
walang libreng edukasyon, walang libre sa mundo. So use your money para sa ikauunlad mo.
Never be like Carlos.
Gusto mo pa ng tips for spending habit as an immigrant abroad?
I got you. Nasa libro ko na "I'm sorry, I beg your pardon?" ko na book yan.
Anu-ano nga ba ang most common Kiwi (New Zealander) slang?
Tara! Alamin natin.
1. All good – Signifies ‘everything’s fine’ or ‘no problem’; it can also translate to 'you’re welcome’ when someone thanks.
2. Heaps - Signifies ‘a lot’ or ‘very.' Example: He owns heaps of toys.
3. Sweet – signifies 'no problem’ or "OK."
4. Aye/Eh – The meaning is dependent on how it was delivered. So, look out for the user's mood, pitch, and perspective.
a. It can mean the person is seeking agreement and is similar in meaning to "Don't you think?" or “Isn't it?"
Example: The weather has been good today, eh?
b. It is also a way to express disbelief and/or surprise. Similar meaning to "Really?"
Example:
First-person: Dom, Died yesterday!
Second person: Eh?
As per their Enunciation, New Zealanders deliver their short vowels as:
1. A’s are E’s.
• A in “Accent” sounds like “Eccent."
• A in “Hands” sounds like “Hends”
2. E’s are I’s.
• E in “Ten” sounds like “Tin."
• “Best” can sound like “Beast," and "Bed” like "Bead."
• “Deck” can become “D*ck," so listen carefully before you respond.
