We [A team at the University of Otago and Axis Sports Medicine] are currently investigating the use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) as a potential tool to help identify athletes with Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs).
REDs is a health condition which can occur when an athlete does not consume enough food to meet the energy demands of their sport/training. This can have a severe long-term impact on an athlete’s health, performance, and athletic career. This research is focused on helping athletes with the early identification and treatment of REDs, in order to prevent the long-term health and performance impacts of being in a prolonged energy deficit.
Right now we are looking for healthy active females to match against study participants who have been diagnosed with REDs. If you meet the criteria in the post above, and are keen to take part please complete the initial questionnaire; https://redcap.link/CONTROLCGM or send an email to [email protected].

are one of the community organisations we support. Kim, one of our 300-level students volunteered at their community cooking class yesterday. They made Ambrosia and apple crumble. Her feedback was “I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to volunteer and see the positive impact SuperGrans has within the Dunedin community”. Well done Kim.

Research Participants Needed!
Are you an active healthy female between the ages 18-42 and interested in understanding your blood glucose responses to diet and exercise?
We are seeking participants to take part in a study that will require you to wear a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) for seven days as well as track your exercise and food, which you'll need to do twice, 12 months apart. You'll also be asked to complete an online questionnaire every 4 months over that time period and complete an interview.
To compensate you for your time, we will provide a $50 grocery voucher each time you wear the CGM (so $100 in total over the 12 month period).
For more information, please see the information posted below or you can contact:
Dr Katherine Black - [email protected] or,

Tomorrow’s menu! We have so many people coming and asked about the Mexi Bowl so that’s what we’ll be serving tomorrow 😋 Mexi bowl was designed by a group of Human Nutrition students as part of the paper HUNT444 last year and because it has been so popular, we decided to keep the menu item! The other menu item - burrito is designed by our current student, Alex. She’ll be serving food in the food truck with her supervisor Nichola! Hope to see you there!
