Ngā mihi o te tau hou whānau!
We hope you have had a safe and enjoyable holiday period. It's great to get back into the flow of things again, as we do, don't forget it's ok if things are slow to get going. Be kind to yourself and to others.

This year, our goal is to be more present and to be more vocal on issues and struggles we go through. If there is anything in particular you would like us to review or create, let us know, after all, we are here for you.

The lockdown restrictions we have going on in Aotearoa at the moment is taking a toll on some of our people. How are we keeping our mental health in check? Checking up on ourselves and others is important, we are all feeling the strain of this round of lockdown, especially in Tāmaki Makau-rau and parts of Waikato. Check up on your mates, your family members and check on yourself.

This week we have been chatting with others everyday, today is a good day to reflect on those conversations we've had. Today whether with a friend, in Kura, at mahi, or even on own, take time to reflect on what you've learnt this week, how did having those little chats make you feel? what tools can you continue to use beyond today?

Today's call for MHAW is Takohatia ki tēhahi - Connect through kindness. When we do something nice for someone else, no matter how big or small, it does wonders for our own well-being. Connecting through kindness can be in the form of a smile to a passerby, giving a mate hand moving or even sharing uplifting thoughts on social media. We could use more kindness in the world.

We are half way through Mental health awareness week whānau. Today's kōrero activity is to have a chat about Te Whare Tapa. Below are the four walls of the Whare. Have a look and see how these four walls can help with bringing mental awareness forward and, have a yarn with someone about what you've learnt and how you can use the concepts of Te Whare Tapa Whā to enhance your mental well-being.

Morena whānau, as we continue having conversations with others think about the spaces you're in. Getting outside in nature can do wonders for you. Take your catch ups outside with a picnic lunch and let the sun rays do it's work.

Kia ora e te whānau, its Mental Health Awareness week this week, this year's theme is "Take time to kōrero". Life gets busy but it doesn't mean we don't have time to catch up with someone today. So reach out to someone you haven't caught up with, give them a call, have a chat, they may need it more than you think.

This week news of a beloved brother's tragic and untimely passing hit our team. We have been taking the time to process our emotions and feelings so we can be in the best place to help our other brothers and sisters understand his departure from us. Although we don't have all the answers, we do have aroha (love) and will awhi (embrace) those that need the extra support.
We will all face trying times in our lives but we will also face peace and comfort. In our times of peace, seek out those who are finding it tough and lend a hand, an ear, a shoulder. You never know who's life you might save!

Hey team, we know we haven't been active a lot on here, we are trying to navigate our families and time while we're in lockdown. As we continue to fight this together, let's remember to be kind.

Photos from WEgotU's post 24/05/2021

Sometimes we over estimate how much people talk about us, judge us, or laugh at us, but in reality they probably aren't, and they could turn out to be some of the best people you get to know. It's hard putting yourself out there and meeting people, but as you start to open up you'll find the majority of people are just good folks.

You are never truly alone. If you don't have anyone to reach out to, reach out to us. Send us a message. We are here.

Over the last month my little family has been struggling with mental health difficulties. As we have worked together to support each other during this time, we have had our ups and downs but with the support of our whanau, Waikato DHB CAHT team and Hauora Waikato Mental health services, we have been able to find a starting point to help understand our situation and how we go about living our day to day.
One thing I have re-learnt through this, is you can't do it on your own, everyone needs support, the ones that are going through the struggle and the ones that are supporting that person and, as we continue to grow and work through it, we are grateful to have our support crew in place to help pick us up when we are both finding it tough.

2021 is the opportunity for a new start for some of us. In it though, remember to BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF. Things won't change overnight and, at times it will be hard work. Keep going, we are cheering you on. If you need to talk to someone Free call or txt 1737 at anytime to talk with a qualified counselor.

2020 what a year huh! But even with all the WTFs we've had this year, there is plenty to be grateful for. There have been blessings in this year of uncertainties and, so long as we look to the blessings, it is always worth another day. Happy New Year team, 2021 ain't got nothin' on us!

The holiday are not only about presents, food and spending money, but more about finding joy, peace and love with those who love and appreciate you for who you are. This Christmas day, remember to enjoy yourself, find joy in the moment and remember, YOU are loved, YOU are unique, YOU are YOU.
From the team at WEGOTU, Happy Holidays.

Christmas eve and some of us may be pulling our hair out getting the last minute preps done. Through all of this, there is need to take 5 and ensure you have time to relax. A great way is finding a quiet room to meditate in. However way you do it, in quiet, with music, outside on the beach, where-ever you choose, set a timer, breathe, focus and then refocus. For more helpful steps into meditating check out shorturl.at/fjquH

It's a hard thing to be you. Just you. But remember, there is no one else out there who is just like you. You are unique, you are loved, you are important. So be you, don't be afraid to just BE YOU.
