Important announcement from Immigration New Zealand!

Today's updates impact your ability to support your partner and dependent children if you hold an AEWV and work in ANZSCO level 4 and 5 roles.

The change will not impact:

- people that already hold visas as a partner or dependent child, or
- AEWV holders working in ANZSCO level 4 and 5 roles with a pathway to residency, such as the Green List, sector agreements with residence pathways, and
- those earning at least 1.5 times the median wage threshold for the Skilled Migrant Category.

Further changes to Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) The Government has made further changes to the Accredited Employer Work Visa scheme.

Immigration update:

Median wage changes and exceptions

The new median wage rate of $31.61 an hour is being adopted into parts of the immigration system on 28 February 2024.

This revision will impact wage criteria across various visa categories including the Skilled Migrant Category, the Parent Category, Green List Straight to Residence and Work to Residence pathways. It will also apply for transport workers (excluding bus drivers) applying for the Transport Work to Residence Visa.

Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) exceptions

This increase does not apply to Accredited Employer Work Visas and AEWV-linked visas, which will remain at the current rate of $29.66 per hour.

The AEWV-linked visas are:

- the Partner of a Worker work visa
- Variation of Conditions for AEWVs, legacy Essential Skills work visas, interim visas granted under the Skilled Migrant Category, and Partner of a Worker work visas
- Subsequent Migrant Exploitation Protection work visas
