Join local artist, Dave Austin, in this pottery workshop and build a large-scale piece on Saturday the 3rd August, then come back to raku fire it on Saturday the 17th of August. No experience necessary.
Dave will show you the techniques he uses to create large-scale sculptural works. Using slab and other hand-building methods, Dave adds and subtracts shapes to turn his abstract thoughts into abstract reality.
He has a passion for raku firing these pieces, committing them to the flame and smoking them in combustibles, for breath-taking and sometimes unpredictable results.
There are no additional costs for this workshop, your enrolment fee includes all this: your tutor’s time and expertise, use of the WSP studio facilities and tools, clay, bisque firing, raku glazes, use of the raku kilns and protective equipment, LPG gas for firing!

Lots of happy people getting creative at the CCG Mighty Waikato Pottery Throwdown on Saturday.
The studio was buzzing this morning with lots of happy potters Playing With Clay. It's great to be part of so many people's happy place.
This morning we had Maioro Barton from Enabling Good Lives consult with us on adaptations we can do to make the studio accessible to everyone. He had some great suggestions which we'll work on over the next while. Watch this space!
Thanks regular PWCer Sharonn Miller Pirie for introducing us to Maioro.
Fresh from the delicate hands of Leanne Bruce.
Look what Mike Boswell made for his wife's birthday. Mike came to a few classes five or six years ago and hadn't been back since then. His wife encouraged him to go back to pottery and "its been so good". Mike made this bird bath in Larissa's hand building class in term 2.
We've got a great new class starting in term 3. Our wonderful Sarah Steed is both potter and jeweller and she'll be leading us on this journey to explore wonderful ways to make personal adornment from clay. Bring your own unique style to life. Head to our class bookings page to find out more https://www.eventspronto.co.nz/monday_pm_ceramic_jewellery
