👀 Massage techniques 👀
Cross fibre technique is a deep friction directed across the muscle belly or tendon. Generally preformed slow, deep and specific, the aim is to:
💃🏼Create movement💃🏼
With many layers of tissue between the epidermal (top) layer of the skin and the underlying muscles, it is likely that muscles will become ‘stuck’ and feel rigid.
Through this movement we can stimulate the muscle to help:
👉🏼Reduce/ prevent adhesion formation
👉🏼Pain relief
👉🏼Nerve stimulation
👉🏽Increase range of motion

Not long now!🎄

Is incredibly important to maintain BALANCE in mental and physical wellbeing.
Too often our own health and well-being is low on the priority list due busy lifestyles, cost, time and priorities ⏰
Massage therapy is an amazing self-care option to invest in, it allows your body to reach a level of relaxation that is restorative and healing for the mind and body. Working with the nervous system to lower stress levels, muscle pain and sensitivity.
✨Are you ready to put YOURSELF first?✨
💦 Hydration 💦
Water is a key ingredient that our body uses to maintain function of all systems within the body.
Hydrating post massage is encouraged not because it will flush out toxins or lactic acid, but because our muscles perform better when fully hydrated, that is the ultimate goal after a massage session.
🦵🏽Grastrocnemius and Soleus🦵🏽
Both of these dominant calf muscles are considered POSTURAL muscles.
➡️ Fight gravitational pull
➡️ Are in constant use
➡️ Have a tendency to have a shorter testing length and prone to tightness
➡️ Have a readiness to act
Considering the amount of work these muscles do on a daily basis without the added physical activity, are you looking after them as well as you could be?
Massage is a wonderful tool to add to your recovery routine to reduce muscle shortening and fatigue 💆🏼♀️
🔴 Erythema 🔴
(during a massage)
Superficial skin redness is a very good sign that heat is being generated which is transferred to the tissues via the friction on the skin from the therapist’s hand/elbows/fingers.
This heat causes the blood vessel in the area to dilate leading to an increase in blood circulation in the area.
It doesn’t last long and will likely fade soon after the treatment.
This is not a one answer fits all, its about what is right for you!
🥸The short answer is, as often as you’d like!
🥸The long answer depends on many factors including the type of massage you are having, your discomfort and physical needs and your stress and emotional needs. Depending on the presenting concern, options can be discussed to ensure you achieve the optimal goals!
Feel like it’s been too long? ⏱
My favourite technique to use on the upper trapezius muscle 🤌🏻
The ‘grab and roll’ is effective to create movement in the upper fibres which are quite often bound tightly by built up tension.
Do you find yourself constantly squeezing your shoulders for relief?

Dry needling!
I am very excited to announce that I am now qualified to offer dry needling to clients! It has been a long awaited goal of mine to add this modality to my tool kit. Thank you to Advanced Clinical Education for an amazing course!
Some benefits from dry needling are:
✅Gentle treatment for hyper-irritable trigger points
✅Releasing myofascial trigger points
✅Increases blood flow to the treated area
✅Promotes a healing response
✅Balances pH levels in the area
