What it says on the tin. ADHD matters and MATTERS. Here are some of my ramblings and strategies. SPAM will be DELETED
To a greater or lesser degree everyone has some traits which could be attributable to ADHD. If you think you may have ADHD and it’s heavily impacting your life, seek a diagnosis and get the help that’s available.
It can be a difficult path, especially as an adult, but there’s a lot of support around

Thank you The Soul Apprentice
Everyone’s ADHD journey is different. There’s no such thing as stereotypical ADHD. ADHD affects us in different ways and our experiences are a result of our upbringing and our environment
But so many people are claiming to have ADHD based on watching a few videos and yet never get a formal diagnosis. No wonder ‘everyone has ADHD’ is something we see a lot on Social media.
It does ADHDers no favours

Never underestimate the power of laughter
An interesting video, but this is my take on it
Sorry, but this is utterly ridiculous.
The competent mechanic became a mechanic because he’d been trained to do it. He’d learned his skills.
There are no reasons we cannot continue to learn and develop and become better at the job to which we have been promoted.
Most people get a job based on pre-existing skills and the perceived ability to learn.
People grow into their role.
Everyone makes mistakes and we grow and develop.
We limit ourselves when we tell ourselves that we are best in one role and don’t want anything else.
That said, if you are happy in your role, stay there. But if you want to grow, keep striving, keep learning and never be limited by other people’s ideas of what you should and shouldn’t do
I had a really important reel to share, went away, then Facebook refreshed and I spent an unsuccessful half hour looking for it again
It took me a long while to recognise my ADhD. I was diagnosed in my 4Os, but it was another few years before I really started looking into it.
I have four children. Two have been officially diagnosed ADHD.
My parents are an interesting study. I believe I get my ADHD from my mother.
Dad has some spectrum issues, although he leans more towards ASD in my opinion. I have a brother with what I believe is undiagnosed ASD. His son is diagnosed ASD. So there is definitely a familial link
I don’t particularly like Simon Cowell, but he is absolutely spot on with this. The constant drive for wealth and things won’t make you happy. Work at something you enjoy….and it’s not a chore
Oh God!!!
I’ve just realised I’ve got s**t to do tomorrow that I put off doing today….HOW will I sleep?? The streessss!!
Oh wait, I have Zopiclone 😂
When we constantly push for approval, it does get very wearing for other people. Eventually we can end up pushing them away

One of THE most wearing things about ADHDers is the constant need for positive reinforcement

This is great advice; both for ADHDers who should absolutely walk away and come back when calm, and for those they argue with to allow them to walk away.
I lost count of how many arguments I had with my ex-partner where she would refuse to let me walk away and things escalated and things invariably got smashed in frustration.
Every time she had to make it about dealing with HER feelings and not thinking through the bigger picture.
I was the one who got emotional. Therefore I was the one who was in the wrong and so I should have to stay and deal with the consequences, despite being severely emotionally compromised……this is why I am happy to remain single
As ADHDers, We can be very clingy and very distant in relationships. That can make things very difficult for others we are in relationships with. We do need to remind ourselves of our good qualities and think about how we affect others

‘Why am I so hard to Love?
Is it because of ADHD?
I push people away in relationships and friendships’
This was an anonymous question I saw on an ADHD community forum.
Here are my thoughts
You aren’t hard to love. You are, I suspect very easy to love…..initially.
We have quirky ways that make us interesting….a little bit weird yes, but interesting.
What wears people down is our constant need for positive strokes and constantly second guessing ourselves and overthinking everything to the point it often borders paranoia.
We find it hard to believe that someone loves us for us and we often think they have an ulterior motive.
We rarely trust people because we’ve been rejected so often. A lack of trust can be very destructive.
I am single having been married three times for similar reasons…..
Plus when you add in the risk taking that a lot of ADHDers do as many seek dopamine outside of our relationships….it rarely ends well.
The most important first step is to take time to be alone and learn to love yourself first and foremost. If we can’t love ourselves for who we are, how can we expect anyone else to?
Just remember everything that is awesome about you
Some people just can’t help but make snarky nasty comments, but it’s usually a reflection of how desperately unhappy they are. They console themselves by being mean. But they are just sad people…..still hard to deal with them though

ADHD makes dealing with emotional vampires really hard work. They suck at your very soul

We all have random thoughts, but ADHDers tend to build whole scenarios around them. Here’s one I had just now…..about being an actor at The Oscars

I have just seen Deadpool and Wolverine and it’s pretty anarchic chaos in so much as it seems to follow very few rules I’d expect in a movie. It’s pretty much non-stop action and the very chaotic way the story line was put together just reminded me so much of the way I think.
In fact ADHD is mentioned in the movie.
Wolverine says to Deadpool ‘have you ever been tested for ADHD?’ and he replies ‘No, but I’ve had a few STD’s caused by ADHD’.
It’s a funny line and does reference……well that’s a story for another day.
I thought the movie was great.
Definitely one I will have to see several times.

One thing ADHDers know all too well are sudden flashes of anger that can lead to tragic consequences. So when I read stories where a similar thing has happened, it strikes a chord.

Our mental health can be such a fragile thing, yet we take it for granted so much of the time.
We tend to notice only when things go badly wrong.
It’s like having a car that you know well. You know how it handles and you know the engine sound. After a while things start to wear and it starts to make little sounds that you ignore. The steering isn’t quite as tight, but it’s an old car, so that’s to be expected. It still gets you from A to B, even though you’ve not checked the oil in an age and the tire pressures, well, they don’t LOOK flat, so a kick will do for now. They aren’t flat, so it’s all good.
After a while more metaphorical string and chewing gum gets added and little fixes keep it rolling along, until it doesn’t and one day your car has a catastrophic breakdown…..that you will say you never saw coming.
We are slightly better at looking after other people, because we notice changes, that we don’t notice in ourselves.
We need a regular service. We need time out. We need to relax and get away from everything. Stress is the silent killer that catches us unawares.
So be good to yourself.
Treat yourself.
Have a great stress free day 🤩🤗
🐺
Can’t say I do. I do think we get used to our alone time and love it, because we can do what we want and then there’s someone else to think about. I’ve never thought of it in terms of energy though
I’m not sure why I always seem to take alternative points of view.
Maybe it’s part of my make up, maybe it’s just that I am irritated by fake people.
But it’s a trait that I’ve seen in other ADHDers. We question the world around us all the timewe tend to be deep thinkers and can easily see through BS
