📣 Mental health Awareness Week

Here at SELF collective mental health is a key pillar of my holistic approach to health and wellness.

Mental health can look very different and is not a one size fits all approach which is why I enjoy working 1:1 with clients.

Tailoring an individualised program that not only aids in physical improvements but emotional & mental growth also is where the integration happens ✨

Utilising Mindfulness tools & strategies such as meditation, personalised journal prompts, breathwork exercises and personal touch points can help navigate days that maybe a little more tricky than others. Additionally utilising a therapy called system mapping Aka systemic constellations can help in releasing held trauma, blocks and emotions stored within the body allowing you to move forward with freedom and self sovereignty.

Creating little daily rituals of the above tools has been proven to increase joy, happiness & calm moments.

And for those days that you may find yourself in the darkness, just know this too shall pass and it’s ok to ask for help.

Having awareness of your SELF and being willing to take responsibility & ownership are two very different concepts.
Often we project what we are doing/being onto loved ones instead of seeing it as ourselves.
It is when we can look in the mirror or become bigger than the situation that we can see it for what it is and what we bring to the situation.
Relationships can begin to to flourish when we take ownership for ourselves without judgment.

I think it’s great that therapy and mental wellness are part of the mainstream conversation. The more information we share and the more knowledge that is out there, the better.

It’s important to understand that therapy is a tool. Like all things, it’s *how* you use the tool that determines the outcome. Not everyone is going to therapy to self reflect, to own their role, or to gain more emotional tools. Some people are looking to be validated that others are the issue. Or, to just declare that they’re in therapy.

It is not a magic fix. No therapist can make someone change their patterns— or even see them. The habits and patterns that happen every week outside of that hour are equally important. Without true dedication to doing the work, change doesn’t happen.

Ideally, a person comes ready to learn new tools and break generational patterns. They’re ready to face the discomfort, the shame, and they have the humility to be introspective. This takes courage and radical transformation happens.

📌Some Infrared Sauna common questions

🔥 WHAT IS THE BEST TEMPERATURE FOR AN INFRARED SAUANA?
An ideal temperature is 60 degrees Celsius however, it is important with infrared that the panels are kept on to maximise detoxification, weight loss, sore muscle and pain relief benefits. If the cabin temperature gets too hot for your liking open the door or vent to regulate the temperature.

🔥 HOW LONG SHOULD I STAY IN THE SAUNA?
Beginners should aim for 15mins and increasing time to 20-45mins.
Experienced users can enjoy 45+mins in any given sauna.
However, exact time frames are personal preference to one’s ability to withstand the heat. This will increase over time.

🔥 HOW LONG BEFORE I FEEL THE BENEFITS?
On average, it takes 3 months of regular sauna use (3x per week) to notice and physiological health benefits.
The more frequently you stay in the sauna, the potential increase in health benefits.

🔥 WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
In a dry sauna like infrared it is best to expose as much skin to the panels as possible to allow the heat to contact the skin & body directly. Therefore, naked with towels to dry your skin as you sweat is fine.

It can be energetic capacity or feeling of overwhelm.

Ultimately, capacity is boundaries that you create & hold for yourself in order to maintain some balance and harmony in your world.
To avoid living in flight or flight & burn out, get clear on your boundaries around CAPACITY and what you can hold.

✨ Rest for me has been an intentional value I am creating space for and implementing lately.

Rest for me is finding joy in slowness, those ‘lazy’ mornings on a Sunday where I may lie in longer with a coffee and book or stay in my pjs until lunchtime.
Scheduling ‘break | food’ slots in my calendar on a Sunday so I am nourishing my body & taking time to breath. 😮‍💨

Going to bed early when I know I have an early wake time to ensure I am getting adequate sleep. Yes, often I am in bed the same time as my kids 😆

Rest is part of my self care and a value that is important for vitality & growth 🌱on days like today — I feel so good for it 🥰
