What a beautiful morning and such a lovely treat for the tamariki to be able to play in the snow at Nursery School!
How lucky are our tamariki to have such amazing teachers that love ‘horsing around’ with them!
Today we had an Olympics Dress up day. The tamariki got to experience a variety of sports, high jump, obstacle courses, running races, horse riding (on a hobbie horse). They loved taking turns on the podium, listening to the National Anthem while they were awarded their medals. The award ceremony was the highlight of their day!
What a wonderful treat on a Friday morning, a surprise visit from four beautiful bundles of fluffiness! They were absolutely gorgeous in their wee jackets and the Tamariki loved spending time with them and taking turns feeding them a bottle. Thank you Ben & Emma for sharing your new additions to your whanau with us.
Preparation is underway for our shared Kai for our Matariki Celebration this evening.
5.00 till 6.30pm.
We were very grateful to have Kate, Lauren & Gemma come in today along with our wee team of helpers and make some lovely vegetable soup. The children really enjoyed participating with the cutting and peeling of vegetables. This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to connect their learning in the preschool setting with experiences from home.
We have a few vacancies available for this Term & is the perfect time to get in your enrolment for Term 3 & 4 to avoid disappointment. We are currently distributing the attached flyer throughout North Canterbury. One of the frequently asked questions since, is at what age do our Free ECE hours start. The answer to that is 3 years old. We do offer a discounted rate for our 2 year olds & I have also posted the new childcare subsidy rates and income thresholds that came in to effect on the 1 April 2024 which lots of our families are taking advantage of. If you have any questions or would like to enquire about the cost for your 2 year old to attend please don't hesitate to get in touch. We are more than happy to help.
The tamariki loved being part of a project over several days making yogurt from scratch. This allowed the children to sustain their focus over a period of time. The tamariki were actively engaged in the process and identified the scientific changes.
We boiled the milk then added to 3 different types of containers and environments to see which option got the best results. A food flask, easi yo maker and a glass jar sitting in hot water wrapped in a towel. The most successful option was the glass jar.
The tamariki then got apples from our tree, had turns at cutting them up and stewed them to have with the yogurt. They then got to enjoy eating it and absolutely loved it! Some even licked the bowl!
The rain cleared and the sun came out just in time for a very special visitor to Rangiora Nursery School today! The tamariki were very happy to see the Easter Bunny and throughly enjoyed an easter egg hunt.
Thank you very much to the kind person who left this beautiful rock in our garden at Rangiora Nursery School this morning.
Busy happy tamariki enjoying their daily routine of caring for our chickens 🐓
We are so lucky at Rangiora Nursery School to be able to take care of our beautiful chickens as part of our tamariki’s daily routine. They love feeding them and really love collecting the eggs! A wonderful experience for all learning to love and care for all living creatures.
Thank you to all the visitors that popped in during our open week and welcome to all our newly enrolled tamariki & their families. We are thrilled to have you join the Rangiora Nursery School whānau.
The comment that we heard the most from our new visitors was “Wow! we didn’t realise you had all this behind the fence! What a beautiful environment with such an amazing outdoor area and you have real grass!”
We are very grateful to have completed an addition to our outdoor environment this year with a fantastic new Louvre covered area. We are very appreciative of the grant received from Aotearoa Gaming Trust to help make this project possible. This has created a lovely, shaded area through the summer months for the Tamariki to enjoy Kai time and extended time outdoors with activities & will continue to provide this as we head into cooler/wet seasons.
We are always open to visitors, no appointment necessary. Please feel free to pop in anytime and see for yourself this unique, not-for-profit Community Preschool!
Today the Tamariki were very lucky to have a visit from an Owl! He was found injured in a paddock 7 weeks ago, and has been cared for by humans since so he is very friendly and tame. The children got to pat him, see him fly around and hand feed him mince. Such an amazing experience.

We had a lovely surprise visitor this morning! Our kaiako Lynley brought in her beautiful new puppy Rosie to visit the tamariki. They loved taking turns walking her on the lead, getting her to sit and giving her a pat and a cuddle.
Rain doesn’t stop us getting outdoors and having fun at Rangiora Nursery School. What a way to spend a Friday afternoon out in the rain making bubbles!
On a beautiful spring morning at Rangiora High School Nursery School our tamariki are busy helping our kaiako w**d the gardens keeping our environment in tip top shape! We are so fortunate here to have such a beautiful, big, fabulous outdoor environment for all to enjoy.
