Today was a good day with kids and ponies. 2 kids had a blast at the holiday program while learning as much as one can learn in a day. Thankful for fine weather and good horses.

After a quiet few months with the weather not playing ball, horses being injured and new horses coming in, we finally managed some holiday fun.

Today's challenge?

Give 2 kids a rug and tell them to put it on. Cuper the trooper just stood there while the girls figured it out in time, and with minimal guidance. Here are some progress pics.

While things have been quiet here we are holding a holiday program these Easter holidays. Tuesday and Thursday of both weeks with 2 instructors. This also means we can have more fun and learning. Come and learn everything horse.

9 to 3 daily with the option of a late finish by arrangement.

8 to 14 year Olds.

$70 per day.

Things have been very quiet here at An Equine Connection the last few months. Well on the page they have been. Behind the scenes the horse numbers have grown while the weather has been miserable.

So what does that mean?

We have a pony pamper day booked for tomorrow from 10 until 2 with a couple of places avaliable. $70 for 4 hours of ponies and fun in the sun now that it is finally here. I have 2 spaces avaliable if anyone would like to join. This is not a ridden day.

Tommy isn't very impressed that he is not getting one of the broodmare dinners. But when you look as fabulously pregnant like he does I don't think he needs it.

Hi there everyone. Just an update on the horses. Ellie is looking great after her injury but we have made the decision to retire her from being ridden. Cuper is still a little off so lessons are still cancelled at the moment.

I have also unfortunately misplaced my cell phone so i do not have much access to the internet. I can jump on the computer occasionally to check messages but please bare with me.

Just letting everyone know that sadly lessons are on hold for the time being. Ellie has given herself a nasty leg wound and Cuper is still recovering from whatever dumb stuff he did in the paddock.

Just a reminder, all lessons are cancelled this weekend as I am away at equifest helping Ellie Harrison at Wild Thyme Horsemanship. If your there come and say hi.

Love this quote from Anna Blake, Relaxed & Forward Training. It is what I strive for with all the horses and riders. Horses are thinking animals so we need to make sure we are kind in our ask and allow the time to process. Reward the try and training comes along so much faster.

There is something magical about a horse allowing you to walk up to them and sit while they are laying down. Dee decided to allow me the privilege of this quiet moment yesterday while checking on them.

***HOLIDAY PROGRAM***

It's that time of year again where the holidays are creeping up. We are running from Monday to Friday both weeks. Limit of 4 kids per day. Fun activities daily and lots of learning with the ponies.

We can also offer non ridden days for those that find being up on a horse intimidating. Please let me know if this is the case and I will book a day that does not have that pressure on kids.

$70 per day from 9 until 3.

One of the things I love the most about working with horses is how they can build confidence in people who otherwise wouldn't have any. Wee Maddi was so scared to go off lead when she first started that it took a couple of months for her to trust the horse she was on enough to even attempt it. And once she did she flourished. Now she's catching new horses without hesitation and confidently leading them (even when they decide they need to trot across the road next to her.) As an instructor I am super proud to see how far this kiddo has come and am super excited to see how far she goes. Maddi you are a superstar.

This quote recieved from Anna Blakes The Barn hits home every time I read it. All my horses that I have worked with have taught me something. Each different but so rewarding. I have loved and appreciated every one.

Poor Calypso is wondering why his dinner was taking so long. Couldn't help but snap a cute pic of him.

The ponies are waiting for a chiropractor visit on Monday. So today it was a plaitting lesson in the sunshine. Any lesson is a good lesson when it's not raining. Well done Evie on your first plaits.

3 kids and only 2 horses? No sweat. Ellie being a superstar doubling Maddi and Summer while Maddy rides Cuper. Holiday program shenanigans are underway.

Learn what's it's like to have a pony of your own with games and skills learnt throughout the day. Each day is catered to the participants abilities so perfect for all levels of horse mad kid. Horsemanship in the morning, riding in the afternoon.

It's been spa week here for the horses. Everyone got bathed ready for clipping on Thursday, then bathed again and the mission of tail and mane plaiting began. Louie loves showing off his glorious locks when they are silky like this.

Thankyou so much to Maddy and Maddi for the huge help yesterday. Love kids who want to just hang and have fun. This may become a regular thing once a month.

Louie wants the food. Apparently he is starved.

I have 3 stables that need cleaning but no where for it to go. Would be great fertilizer for the garden. Old hay and some manure in it. Free in return for help cleaning it out. Will be an easy clean as comes out as carpets. Pm if you are interested.

Morning all. As lessons start to resume things will be slightly different here. Everyone must scan in with the qr code. Please sanitize your hands and wear masks while on the property. This is to protect us as well as you. I have a vulnerable family member that I must protect but do not want to have to say no to lessons. If there are any issues please flick me a message.

Wow the school holidays have flown by. Schools are starting up next week so we are looking ahead at the school term lesson plan. If you would like lessons this term please can you flick me a message with what day/s suit you. I will endeavor to cater for everyone's preference as much as I can.

Welcome to the family sweet girl. Ellie has joined the equine connection family today from a lovely family in Otorohanga who were looking for a home for their special girl. Ellie is an older quaterhorse who has taught some beginners in the past. Am looking forward to getting to know her over the next few days. She is settled in the herd with Louie and Co eating hay.
