My electric sander just died so I just treated myself to a new one! I am all ready now to dust up 9 doors before painting. This is a very important step if you're painting onto a glossy surface, if you don't the paint will just peel off.

My day off, but I'm out at Kihikihi in the sunshine, listening to the birds whilst painting the sofits on our new investment property 💚

Apologies for the silence over the past month, but rest assured I have been beavering away, painting in Te Awamutu!

I completed a big 3 week project a couple of weeks ago. Here are the hallway before and afters. My clients stripped the wallpaper for me which was great! I then had to plaster and prepare the walls and ceiling for painting. The result was quite stunning!

I had a nice little job to end my week.

My client had all of her downlights replaced to LEDs, 16 of them! The new lights were slightly smaller than the old lights so I had to sand, plaster and repaint around them all.

I repainted the hallway ceiling and will go back and repaint the kitchen ceiling when I have a spare day!

I painted a hallway last week. It was marked and needed a freshen up.

It's really important when you're painting over a gloss paint to give it a really good sand first, if you don't the paint will chip off when touched.

Sorry for the lack of posts over the past weeks. I went to the UK to visit my family and since coming back 2 weeks ago have been flat out painting our new rental property.

What a big job! Jetlag and a massive painting job really don't mix 🤣🤣

With lots of help from a friend and my husband I am getting there slowly.

I had a very rewarding job a couple of weeks ago tackling a hallway!

The walls had been papered and painted and the ceiling spray coated. The coating was tested and asbestos free so totally safe for me to remove.

I stripped the wallpaper, scraped off the ceiling coating, sealed and plastered both and painted, sanded and doors and trims and undercoated followed by two top coat, a big job!!

She loved this colour in her previous designer home so wanted to duplicate it when she moved back to the farm. Doesn't it look fabulous 😍

I have just painted a bedroom and en-suite.

The ceiling, wall and coving paint were all peeling. After sanding to remove all of the loose paint and sealing with a primer, I gave the patches a plaster and another layer of primer before apply 2 coats of top coat.

This is the third room I have renovated for a lovely Te Awamutu family.

They inherited a bad paint job! The previous owners had painted over varnished wood without sanding or priming the surface. The result is paint that chips off every time you touch it!

I sanded the woodwork, filled all the cracks in the plaster and gave the room two fresh coats of paint. What a difference, the room feels so bright and airy now, my clients are so happy!

I had a great job last week. My clients double glazed their gorgeous villa and needed the surrounds painted.

The old windows were originally painted in high gloss paint. When you're painting over gloss paint it is super important to give them a really good sand. This roughs up the surface and gives the new paint something to cling to. You can see when they were repainted a few years ago this wasn't done so the paint just peeled off when I tried to sand it!

I had a nice little job to end my week, painting some varnished wooden shelves.

The shelves on either side of the chimney breast really closed in the room. Painting them made the room seem much bigger and brighter 🌞

It is really important when painting over varnish to give a good sand to rough up the surface to give something for the paint to grab to. Then apply and a primer before painting.

It was so lovely transforming this entrance / dining / kitchen area. The area had some dark feature walls which made it quite dark.

My client is a very creative soul and she chose a gorgeous fresh lilac for the walls with a slightly darker shade for the trims and it now looks airy and bright.

I received some lovely feedback from the bedroom and playroom ceiling I did last week 😊

I did a very rewarding job over the last 2 weeks, getting a bedroom ready for a new little girl, due in January.

It was a pleasure working with plasterer Sam Cook again. We stripped the wallpaper and sealed the walls, Sam then plastered them all to give a like new finish.

The 1950 house is pretty original inside with only 2 previous owners. There's a lot of work to do to bring it back to its former glory but it will look amazing when it's finished.

I've completed a big job over the past few weeks. My client purchased a house and has fully renovated it with new paint, carpet, new kitchen servery & fitted wardrobe.

Every room had a different 'bright' wallpaper which I stripped, sealed before it was plastered by Sam Cook ready for painting. Grey trims made white and yellowed ceilings freshened..

The result is a beautiful modern and stylish home.
