Due to personal financial struggles in recent years I need assistance to fulfil my dream of representing my count

It has been WAY too long since my last post for which I apologise! During the past few months I have continued to prepare and compete at several bodybuilding events, qualified as a Personal Trainer and started a part-time PT franchise at City Fitness Lyall Bay, on top of doing my regular full time IT work, family life and junior sport volunteer work!
Yesterday was the ICN NZ Nationals in Palmerston North. A HUGE and extremely challenging but wonderful experience as expected. Superbly organised and run by the fabulous ICN team and my first time competing in Physique and Fitness classes. An honour to be on stage again with the legend Murray Wade and we did battle in all three classes (Men's 60+ Bodybuilding, Men's 60+ Physique and Men's 60+ Fitness) and joined by Kim Reid from Christchurch in the Bodybuilding class. Stoked to win both the Bodybuilding and Physique titles and congratulations to Murray for his well deserved win over me in Fitness.
Here is a rushed picture taken by a fellow competitor after my Physique win .. more to follow soon once the official snaps from Rob Caven come through.

As part of my build up for the big comps coming up I entered the NZIFBB Wellington Bodybuilding Champs in Lower Hutt a couple of weeks ago. Another excellent show and as anticipated I was alone in my Masters 60+ Men's Bodybuilding category. I'll discuss in a future post about why this isn't an issue for me ... basically I compete to challenge myself to be my best and if possible to be better than the last time I competed. Hopefully at 61 years of age this year I can be at least as good as last year at age 60!
A fun part of many comps for me is doing the 'routine' to music. It has no bearing on final placings in most comps (this comes down to the compulsory posing rounds) but I always like to do something entertaining for the audience! My teenage kids are mortified that I would do something like this in public, but if people enjoy it then that's enough motivation for me.
Anyway ... here is my latest routine that I performed at the show - the video from the live feed provided by the NZIFBB for the show (a bit blurry but hopefully viewable), and in the next post a photo courtesy of the wonderful Linda Keim of Linda Shootz Photography.
Oops ... it's been way too long since my last post so I'll work on a couple of updates in the next few days. I've been forced to change my plans somewhat due to Covid-19 restrictions closing the travel bubble and the ICN NZ Nationals now postponed from September 25 until November .. more on that soon.
9 days ago I met up with Adam Parker (ICN Judge, personal trainer and posing coach) in Paraparaumu so I could get his expect advice on the poses required for the two new categories that I've entered at Nationals - Men's Physique and Men's Fitness. It was an awesome session and Adam gave me loads of valuable tips and critiques. He took a few photos of my Physique class quarter-turns ... excuse the fact I hadn't pumped up at all and also the tag still on the boardshorts that I had just bought at Amazon Surf Outlet store in Otaki an hour prior! Anyway - here are the poses and I HIGHLY recommend contacting Adam for advice if you plan to do any ICN events - www.naturallybuildcoaching.com [email protected]:
A massive thank you to Alex and the team at Eat Me Supplements () for the huge supply of 100% Whey Protein as their sponsorship contribution that arrived on my doorstep yesterday! 5kg of 'Velvet Vanilla' flavour and 10 single serves each of 'Cheeky Chocolate', 'Banana Bliss', 'Creamy Coffee' and 'Sexy Strawberry' flavours!
As I often use two servings a day (almost always mixed into a serving of cooked oatmeal hence the preference for powder with a high % of protein) this is a much needed part of my year-round nutrition ... and this supply will last me until at least the end of 2021!
A gap in my sponsorship pool opened up this week and has now been filled by a very kind offer of a GOLD sponsorship in the form of protein power from Eat Me Supplements .. thank you so much!!
Soon I will start posting some updates on where I'm at with my training and diet as I prepare for the ICN Nationals in 10 weeks time ... but also competing in a local event (NZIFBB Wellington Champs) on August 14 in Lower Hutt.
My heart-felt thanks and gratitude to Scots College who have very generously ensured I have now reached my sponsorship target of $3,000.00!!!
Once again thank you so much to all my generous sponsors for ensuring my dream to compete at these shows can now be realised!
Another GOLD sponsor confirmed .... a massive thank you to:
* Jen & Craig Taylor from Bright Build Limited - GOLD sponsorship! 😀👍
I'm feeling very humbled and blessed for the extremely generous support I am receiving!! 💪😀👍
Thank you so much to the following new generous contributors to my campaign (and now less than $1,000 required to reach my target):
* Eastern Suburbs Junior Cricket families - GOLD sponsorship x 2!
* Anonymous Seatoun AFC family - GOLD sponsorship
* Andy & Mel Matthews - SILVER sponsorship
A huge thank you to the following new sponsors:

You guys rock! 💪😀👍
Getting ready to launch my page and sponsorship proposal ... who will be the first sponsor?!
On June 5 this year I competed in the ICN Capital City Classic Bodybuilding Championships. I won the Master’s 60+ Men’s Bodybuilding title and qualified to represent NZ in this class at the 2021 ICN Oceania Championships on the Gold Coast, Australia on the weekend of October 16 and 17.
Due to personal financial struggles in recent years I need assistance to fulfil my dream of representing my country at an international bodybuilding competition. ICN judges have recommended I compete in Men’s Fitness 50+ and Men’s Physique 50+ as well as the Men’s 60+ Bodybuilding class at the ICN NZ National Championships in Auckland on September 25. This will allow me the opportunity to qualify to compete in up to two more classes at the ICN Oceania Championships.
I am seeking up to $3,000 in total sponsorship so I can fund the trips to Auckland and Gold Coast. Three levels of sponsorship are available (with the level of recognition to match the level of support):
GOLD: $250 (GST inclusive)
SILVER $125 (GST inclusive)
BRONZE $ 50 (GST inclusive)
This funding, along with hopefully some subsidies from ICN New Zealand will allow me to cover most of the cost (e.g. flights, accommodation and entry fees) for these two competitions. In return I will promote these sponsors in a Facebook “blog” page that I am creating to record my journey to these competitions.
If you can assist me to achieve my dream, I would love to hear from you. Please contact me by phone (0274 303654) or email ([email protected]).
