Miss Ruby is inviting applications to be her forever-hoo-mans.
She's almost 5 months old and a lovely wee kitten. She's spent a few weeks in her current foster home to be a little more confident with people but she's also been around cats and small dogs.
She's available to visit in Avalon, Lower Hutt. If you'd like to visit Ruby you can apply on our website here: https://www.outpawed.org.nz/adopt

A successful Trap, Neuter (or in this case Spey) and Return for this wee girl last week.
She's a stray who turned up a wee while ago. In the time it's taken her carer to build her trust she's had a kitten of her own, who's just had a litter.
She's now gone home, but her kitten has moved her babies so we're playing a waiting game until she brings them over for breakfast and we'll trap the whole group.

Today was not a fun day here at Outpawed.
Sir Kedrick Cutesypaws crossed the rainbow bridge - a tragedy at only 11 months old. He went from 'slightly off' to life-threateningly unwell in a mere few hours with the best outcome for him being peace.
His foster family went above and beyond rushing him to the vet and waiting, and staying with him as he crossed. They did everything right but it didn't help.
This is rescue. This happens. It doesn't make it any easier. Rest in love Sir Kedrick and much love to his foster family who found it very quiet when they got home this afternoon.

We recently got an update from Aegis' (now Indie) forever family.
Indie spent about 9 days in the laundry, but with lots and lots of attention she was confident to come out and explore the house. She already loves everyone in our household (mainly mum haha) and loves the attention.
She has now made her way outside and loves exploring our garden and sleeping under the deck! She always comes back every hour to check we are still here. She’s doing so amazing, and has fit into our family so perfectly!
So great to hear these stories of the cats and kittens who have been in Outpawed's care.

What a difference a couple of weeks and time, space and love can make. This is Sweep. He came in with his brother Sooty a few weeks ago. They had been cared for as strays for months but needed a more permanent arrangement.
Their carer had done a great job getting them used to people but they were unsure of others. They hissed and spat out of fear, not aggression. As our vet said when she saw them - they're not mean!
Almost three weeks later their in seperate foster homes and Sweep has gone from hissing and spitting to purring, and laying on the bed!

The lovely Emily came to Outpawed 2 years ago with stage 3 chronic kidney disease and arthritis. None of us thought she'd still be with us 2 years later but she's proved to have a great desire to live.
Just to keep it interesting she has now also grown a mass that needs to be removed.
She gets fluids to help her maintain hydration, appetite stimulant medication, and pain relief for arthritis. Her ongoing medical costs include renal monitoring, fluids, kidney/mobility diet, and medications. Her costs are about $200 per month before we think about the mass removal surgery which we expect to cost around $1200.
Despite all this Emily is living a wonderful life, with a fantastic foster family and isvery happy and stable.
Please help us to continue to support Emily's ongoing costs or contribute to her upcoming surgery by donating directly to the Outpawed Rescue Trust
06-0284-0635488-00 or setting up a small but regular donation on our Website https://www.outpawed.org.nz/donate

Urgent Community Re-home
Max is a 2 1/2 year old male kitty whose owner whose human is relocating from Kapiti on the 18th of October and she can't take him with her.
He is an indoor/outdoor cat currently, and loves sleeping on the bed when he's not climbing trees, visiting the neighbours or chasing his friend Eddie (cat across the culdesac). He's partial to a tummy rub and is a generally easy-going kind of guy.
If you can provide him a loving home please contact Susan on 021449192
