Hi everyone, we have been alerted to a post on Twitter by Clarke Gayford about LK Whangamata. We would like to share our response with you as unfortunately the LK Twitter account is old and not in use so we are unable to respond through that channel.

The store had agreed to display the notice at the request of a local community member. The ‘inclusivity and acceptance’ message has unfortunately been lost in the generic choice of wording. The store in no way meant to imply that people under the legal age would be served and Liquor King has very robust processes for age verification, with a policy to ID all who appear to be under 25. Liquor King also strongly supports New Zealand’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts to protect our staff and customers. The sign has been taken down.
