The Netball Central Zone Advanced Camp was held over the weekend in Palmerston North with 29 Secondary School players from across the Zone in attendance.
The players received specialist coaching from our fantastic coaches Anna Andrews-Tasola, Yvette McCausland-Durie and Waimarama Taumaunu. The camp concluded with match play on Sunday afternoon where all the players showed great skill and talent.

Silver Ferns Training Observation Opportunity for Coaches and Umpires
Tuesday 26th September, 11am - 1pm, Te Rauparaha Arena
As part of the Silver Ferns preparations for the Taini Jamieson Series v England and the Constellation Cup v Australia, coaches and umpires have been given another great opportunity to attend a Silver Ferns training session. All sessions will be Co-Facilitated by a NNZ appointed Coach Lead and Umpire Lead.
Purpose:
- To observe the coaching techniques used for individuals and the team, session intensity, quality, and flow
- To continue to build game knowledge and understanding
- To continue the approach within NNZ of collaborative coaching and umpiring learning and development opportunities
Who can register?
- Coaches who have a minimum CCA1
- Umpires who have a minimum of the NZC Badge
This session is limited to 25 coaches and 15 umpires. If sessions are fully subscribed, coaches / umpires will go onto a waiting list. All those who register will be notified.

Inviting Tournament Managers to a session with our very own Te Wānanga o Raukawa Pulse Manager, Jill Clapcott and Netball Central Zones NetballSmart Development Officer, Carla van der Merwe. This session will be jam-packed with tips for those preparing to take teams away to both the Lower North Island Secondary Schools and AIMS Games. Jill will share from her experiences with both the Pulse and age-group representative teams. Carla will share some key information on preparing the body for play in a tournament setting, injury prevention, recovery, what fuel the body needs pre and post game and more!

Registrations are now open for the Zone Theory Exam 2 which will be conducted online from 6pm – 8.30pm on Monday 7th August.
To be eligible for the Zone Theory Exam, you must have a current Centre Umpire Award.

The NetballSmart team in Netball Central Zone was at the recent Betty Steffensen Tournament hosted by Netball Manawatu. It is fantastic to see the NetballSmart Dynamic Warm-Ups performed with high accuracy, intent, and intensity, which puts our players and umpires in a position to perform at their best and decrease the risk of serious injury.
