Godspeed, Bernard Hill. Folks will be sharing memories of his various roles today, but for me, Théoden King stands alone - a standout performance in a film series full of standout performances.

Had a blast with these fabulous visitors Eat Wander Explore yesterday. I had to laugh, they were having a day off (their kids were at the zoo with gran) but who was having more youthful fun I wonder?? What a magical visit, thanks guys! Kathy 😀🌿🏹

Power couple Charmaine and Tony totally rock these LOTR costumes at the Fan Museum. They look so good that taking their pics I felt like PJ filming takes for the movies! "Legolas, what do your elf eyes see?" "You shall not pass!" It was just such fun!! 😀🌿🏹

There's been some absolutely brilliant LOTR fans visiting the Fan Museum in the last 2 weeks. What fun we've been having. Thanks Briana for sending me these pics, you guys look terrific!! And I just love your own Arwen costume as well ❤, and great use of a Fan Museum bookmark as a prop. So good to see such cool folk here visiting NZ again! Love it! 😀🌿🏹

I made myself "orc" fingerless mittens!! It was a mistake (patches of rib where there shouod be moss stitch cos of knitting black wool in the dark) but I decided they would be deliberately non-matching like the actual orc gloves in the Fan Museum that survived Helms Deep!! 😀🌿🏹🗡

Repainting Gandalf's beards! Washed after each wear, over time - sans Balrog, he goes from Gandalf the grey to Gandalf the whte! 🌿🏹🧙‍♂️

Gimli costume going to Armageddon this weekend with my cool daughter. But I wanted to save her lugging a big helmet when it's not being worn, so here's the all FELT helmet in the making! 😀🌿🏹

My Nan was such an inspiration! I make costumes for the Fan Museum but I'm such an amateur compared to her genius. She was a trained milliner but stopped working on her marriage, as women did then. But she then started making "hats" (ie, amazing creations) for the local theatre, and I grew up surrounded by these. I particularly loved her jewelled masks for the four winds in Listen To The Wind (pictured). I felt so honoured, after she passed away, when my Mum gave me her costume jewelry and tools. I used some of this jewelry to make Arwen's crown, and other pieces to make Theoden's helmet. I feel her with me when I'm making things. Such a joy. Thanks Nan ❤️
