Mrs and Mr Blackwell are feeling mildly excited, as you can probably tell. Their Small Business Marketing Bootcamp (one day workshop in Greytown - Tuesday 9 July) is nearly all sold out and they have just put the finishing touches on the workbook that will be used during the day by small business owners.
"This course is going to be ideal for people just starting out with their new business or those that feel their offer might be feeling a bit tired and needs an overhaul," says Mr Blackwell. "Wherever you are at, I can promise that our intensive one day workshop is going to motivate you to turn your brand story and customer love up to maximum. Do that and the sales follow. In the current economic environment, it would be tempting to hunker down and do nothing as you try to ride it out. But the opposite is probably true. While everyone else is in limbo, now is a great time to plan for the inevitable upswing in the cycle. It's going to happen, because it always does."
The Stun Marketing Bootcamp is a small, intimate workshop that teaches participants how to get their story, presentation, offer and delivery optimised for their retail, service or digital business.
"We're going to help our business owners find their unique point of difference, their brand's personality, that will set them apart from their competitors," says Mr Blackwell. "Millie and I have worked on brand development all over the world for a while now, and we are excited to package up what we have learned to help other people like us get their business cranking, especially in these challenging times."

Here's small business guru, Wendy Batten. We appeared at her workshop in Orlando, Florida last year and here's what she said:
"A big thank you. We were fortunate to have Adam Blackwell share his incredible insights on crafting a successful retail brand at our recent Retailer’s Mastermind Session. His engaging and lively presentation not only inspired our retailers but also encouraged them to rethink their approach to branding, going beyond the surface aspects like logos and colours. Many of our members really resonated with the idea of giving their brand a personality and loved the specific exercises presented. Even months after the session, member conversations continues to refer back to Adam's training, appreciating the progress and results they've achieved. We can't thank Adam enough for his fantastic session and the valuable branding knowledge he shared in such an engaging manner."

Since 1996, I've worked on large scale advertising and promotional campaigns all over the world. Stun's clients have taken me to London, Chicago, Los Angeles, Orlando and Johannesburg.
But when I think about job satisfaction and creative fulfilment, I think local. Back in 2020, Millie, my wife, and I were trying to figure out how to bring our home town back to life after the first Covid lockdown. We quickly created the Greytown Festival of Christmas and encouraged local store owners to dig out their Christmas lights to create some Main Street sparkle during the middle of winter. It was a high risk idea but we were desperate!
Now, we are in year five and our Festival is recognised as one of the happiest and most family-friendly small town events in the country. This July, over 60,000 people are expected to attend making it the single biggest event in the Wairarapa region.
So much of the excitement of the annual Greytown Festival is created by the stories we tell about it in advance. And our incredibly talented creative team at Stun - Paul, Aaron, Grant and Ryan - go the extra mile to create stories like this to help elevate our Festival as a beautifully entertaining world class event, on a very tight budget!
Thanks Stun team!

We're running a one-day Small Business Marketing Workshop in Greytown in July and after one little announcement post last week, we've sold half the tickets!
The course focuses on creating a business brand that customers are so attracted to, they feel a deep sense of belonging and loyalty to it. "A little like my attraction to Mrs Blackwell's personal brand," adds Mr Blackwell, without being asked.
"Getting that sort of commitment from customers requires complete dedication to product quality, deeply personal service and creating an environment that is both welcoming and enticing. So we'll be working through how to bring that to life in your business for your customers and then how to communicate it to your audience. This workshop is going to be useful for startups or those wanting to refresh their business marketing plan in 2024."
The workshop runs a full day in Greytown on Tuesday 9 July, with a Happy Hour at the White Swan the preceding evening for those staying over. Blackwell and Sons / Mrs Blackwell's Village Bookshop / Greytown Distilling Company will all feature as case studies during the workshop.
Quick! Don't miss out! It's going to be so much fun! There may even be gin!

EV Driver survey At Stun, we're doing some thinking about how service stations of the future might look. And it's already clear that if traditional service station operators want to survive they'll need to do a better job of serving EV drivers than a few token chargers located at the furthest reach of their property...

It's on its way, and in the meantime, you can still get one of a few copies of the original that are floating around Greg's office. https://www.stun.co.nz/bookofstun
