We’ve been making a short film using the Unreal Engine!

Red Rock Films and Fox&Co Design were selected as finalists of the Unreal Engine Engine Short Film Challenge, an initiative by NZ Film Commission along with Epic Games. The Unreal Engine Short Film Challenge provides funding towards the production of animated short films that utilise Unreal Engine 5.

Fox&Co Design has collaborated with Red Rock Films and Director, Jade Jackson to bring The Taxidermist to life.

With just 8 weeks to produce the 5 minute film and a team of over 40 artists contributing across the production process - from script writing to performance capture filming, face scanning, animation, edit, music composition and post audio - we’re at the finish line.

The film has been an opportunity to experiment, explore and innovate - to create an unexpected story rich in metaphorical meaning, highlighting indigenous cultures. With a shared passion for the project, we’ve brought a diverse team of people together, each with their own set of professional skills, to create a film we’re all incredibly proud of.

We could not have done this alone! We’ve had key partners support us throughout the production. The Miramar Creative Centre, Cloned Reality, Robyn Bryant and POW Studios have been fundamental in the creation of the Taxidermist.

Fox&Co. Design have been selected as Finalists in the Best Design Awards 2022, in three categories: Moving Picture, Colour and Brand for Motion for Mobile.

It is a huge honour to have our work on the Motion For Mobile brand, be acknowledged and placed as a Finalist alongside our industry peers across Aotearoa. We’re crossing fingers for a win in October! Watch this space.
