Fisheries New Zealand consultation - Proposed temporary fishing closures at Tangoiro/Waihirere and Motuoroi, north of Gisborne
Fisheries New Zealand seeks feedback on the proposal by Ngāti Wakarara – Ngāti Hau Takutai Kaitiaki Trust for 2 temporary closures, one at Tangoiro/Waihirere and the other at Motuoroi, both north of Gisborne. Both requested closures would prohibit the take of finfish and shellfish, including crustaceans and rock lobster, for 2 years.
The consultation closes at 5pm on Monday, 13 March 2023.

Fisheries New Zealand consultation - Review of sustainability measures for 1 April 2023
Fisheries New Zealand seeks feedback for proposed changes to the sustainability measures for several selected fish stocks or stock groupings, including:
catch limits, allowances, and recreational daily bag limits for pāua across the lower and central North Island (PAU 2)
a proposed s11 closure and catch limits and allowances for scallops in Coromandel (SCA CS)
measures to restrict dredging for kina in Tory Channel, Marlborough Sounds
The consultation closes at 5pm on Wednesday, 8 February 2023.
Fisheries New Zealand is also proposing to review sustainability measures for rock lobster in Northland (CRA 1) as a part of this sustainability round. Consultation on sustainability measures for CRA 1 will begin around 10 January 2023.
