Owarimash*ta!
Big Osu to the whole New Zealand team including all the supporters back home.
All 4 of our fighters gave it their all and showed everyone what Poneke is made of.
The confidence, experience and honor of representing New Zealand will carry onto the next world Championships in 2027 and we will be looking to bring back gold to everyone that has supported us on this journey
Thank you all

Osu! Link to the second day’s stream for those who want to watch - Senpai Thelvin and Senpai Josh fight today along with Senpai Micah from Papakura dojo.
We have 4 fighters going to Japan next week to participate in the 2023 World Kyokushin Tournament which will be on the 17th to 19th November. We would like to say a huge thank you to quite a few people who helped them along the way during this long training camp!
The team worked extensively with Blair Apperley, specifically on strength and conditioning, recovery and flexibility work. Blair put in a huge amount of work at an individual level, tailoring each program block to really target each fighter’s skillset and needs. No doubt we will be integrating this into training going forward as it’s been super beneficial, and all are looking very fit! This would not have been possible without the very generous grant given to us by Air Rescue and Community Services. We are very grateful as this allowed the team to get extra focused training and recovery as well!
Big Osu to Shihan Gower for helping the team sharpen their techniques, bring in some new skills and making sure the minds are focused for what is coming.
Jason Solomon who comes from an MMA background (he is also an ace on the kettle bells) has been also working with the team as well. Jason brought a wide range of knowledge and has been awesome to train with. Lots of sweat, laughs and fun was had during his sessions! We will be missing those hard pad rounds and hope to see you again!
Last but definitely not least, a massive thank you to everyone at Poneke Dojo who has helped with taking extra classes, fundraising, emotional support and just being there for a laugh and chat. We are blessed to have such a supportive dojo
The hard training is done, now it's time to bring back that gold
