On ANZAC Day, we remember and honor those who served in New Zealand's defence forces, like Harold Kelsey, who bravely served in the Royal New Zealand Air Force during World War II. His story of service and love is a testament to the sacrifices made by so many. Today, and always, we will remember them.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them. Almost all of us know or have known someone who’s served in New Zealand’s defence forces: today on ANZAC day, we honour the lives, stories, and sacrifices of those who were willing to pay the ultimate price. Harold Kelsey, a person we’ve supported, signed up with the Royal New Zealand Air Force in 1942, and served in the South Pacific before returning home as World War II came to a close in 1945. His wife Betty made her wedding dress out of one of his silk parachutes, and they went on to enjoy over 70 years of marriage, with many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Harold’s life and service is an inspiration to us all – to his memory, and to all our other brave service men and women, we say once more: we will remember you.
