Kia ora koutou,
We would like your support.
We’ve submitted a proposal for a Creative Arts Technology Lab to the Manatū Taonga Cultural Sector Regeneration Fund.
They are now asking for public feedback on our proposal. As part of the evaluation process, Manatū Taonga is interested to hear from the people that are intended to benefit from each proposal. Comments are open until 13 November 2022.
To comment, go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/57BTTBY.
Our proposal is to create a Creative Arts Technology Lab, a space for creatives to experiment and develop new ways of working with technology in a practical hands-on environment. Groups and individuals with limited resources can come and work with us to create new ways of storytelling that reaches beyond the performance stage and into the rest of the world, while getting access to and learning new skills that will bring opportunities to grow and expand their employment opportunities for the future.

Thanks for your support

As well as our workshops that start this Saturday, We are very excited to be having the first Calavera Fashion and Wearable Art Show in Aotearoa as a part of the festival's Livestream on the 1st of November, 6-8 pm. Drawing on the Chicano tradition of mixed-media altar installation, the show was originally started by our friends, Marialice Jacob and Reyes Rodriguez, at the Tropico de Nopal Gallery Art-Space, in Los Angeles in the early 2000s. These stills are from their shows in 2003 and 2004.

The wearable altars are dedicated to a person or other entity that has passed on and must be able to be worn down a small runway.

If you would like to make a piece for our Calavera Fashion and Wearable Art Show or would like to volunteer to help in other ways, please send an email to diademu***[email protected] to register and receive more information and guidelines. Or register at https://forms.gle/q99w643QYAc11HXq9
