paper road: n - a pathway that exists on maps, but not necessarily in reality. Paper Road Press aims to publish exceptional books to read in the moments in-between. Whether you're enjoying a quiet cup of coffee before work, commuting home, or waiting for the next bus back because you were so engrossed in your reading you missed your stop, our books will be there to fill the gaps.

How to Get a Girlfriend When You're a Terrifying Monster

It’s hard to explain exactly what this book is. It’s a delightful chunk of action-packed story. Its a validation of q***r relationships. It’s a one-sitting wonder. My best explanation so far is to imagine Heartbreaker without the pictures, but with young women, one of whom is a witch and one of whom is a part of an alien organism. These two meet, develop feelings and then save the world. What more could you want?
There is so much charm in the genuinely weird characters and weirdly familiar setting (Dunedin, rather than the other setting … an alien void). I had a great time reading it.
Kids who love fan fiction, who read q***r stories and who like the unusual will love this. Its length means it's perfect for personal reading. It’s bold to publish a book of just over a 100 pages, one that can be read in a single sitting. As books, especially young adult books, balloon out to hundreds and hundreds of pages, we’re also seeing a reduction in how often our young people choose to read books. Let’s get them hooked with books like this–fun, playful, readable, and achievable.
