Today is Sisu's last day before she heads off on maternity leave with another Commonsense baby on the way! Sisu for has been a long time worker in our Kilbirnie store and the place just won't be the same without her. Theres still time to pop in store and wish her all the best for this new phase in her life. We love you Sisu! ❤️👶

DREAM TEAM // Kilbirnie customers will be aware that Georgia has stepped into the role of manager in our Kilbirnie store! Georgia is in her eighth year of working in our Kilbirnie store, and we have every confidence that she will be a superstar in this role. Georgia will be joined by assistant manager, Evie, who has previously worked as grocery manager/assistant manager extraordinaire in our Lower Hutt store. We look forward to seeing the great things that this dynamic duo can do!

FAREWELL AMELIA // It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Amelia, our Kilbirnie Store manager, who is returning to the UK to be with her family. Amelia started on a fixed term contract in our Wellington City store and, as a result of her friendly 'can do' attitude and fast-paced competence, quickly rose up the ranks, first to Grocery Manager, then Assistant Manager and finally with a move to Kilbirnie Store Manager in 2020. It would be fair to say that 2020 was not an easy time to pick up the reins as a store manager (and the following two years haven't been any easier!) But Amelia has given her all to the job prioritising her staff and customers to ensure both were well cared for. We are so grateful to have had Amelia working with us for the past 5 years and we haven't given up hope that she may one day return. Arohanui Amelia ❤ Your Commonsense Whānau

Update to our opening hours - we have temporarily modified our opening hours to 9-6pm daily. This is to ensure we have capacity to meet the anticipated surge in Covid cases. Please see our general company wide comms below for more information.

COVID UPDATE // This week the entire country moved to a ‘Red’ setting under the Traffic Light System. The settings for Red are very similar to how we have been operating at Orange although it is clear that we are now about to see community transmission of the virus on a scale we haven’t seen before. Now is a great time to bring heightened awareness to our shopping practices to ensure we are operating as safely as possible. As a reminder our entry requirements are that face coverings are mandatory in store and social distancing of 1m is required. Therefore, entry into stores may be restricted to manage these requirements. And remember to please shop normally - there is plenty for everyone if we all do so!

As with other sectors we are likely to be affected by staffing shortages and are looking at all options in this eventuality including reducing our opening hours or temporarily closing. This will depend on the circumstances therefore hours may change suddenly as we adapt to our situation. However, we will try to keep our website up to date as far as possible so please check there for the latest information.

Finally, please, please practice patience and be kind to our staff. They are at the front line of this pandemic and have been for nearly two years now. There is a collective exhaustion within our workforce and we are relying on them now more than ever. We know it's going to get harder before it gets easier but, as always, we’re all in this together.
