Our very own, Dame Susan Devoy and Pakistan's, Jahangir Khan, have become the first members of the PSA Hall of Fame following their induction at the PSA Awards dinner last night.

At the PSA Awards ceremony, held at The Book Rotunda in Birmingham following the British Open semi-finals, the PSA Hall of Fame was launched to recognise the achievements of the game’s most influential characters, past and present.

PSA Chief Executive Alex Gough said: “Susan and Jahangir are two of the finest players ever to play the sport and we’re thrilled to recognise their achievements by making them the first the players to be inducted into the PSA Hall of Fame.

Congratulations Susan, we are extraordinarily proud of you and your continual success.

Meet Myles: Our new General Manager at Club Kelburn

We're thrilled to introduce Myles as our new General Manager at Club Kelburn! Myles has hit the ground running this week, taking the helm of our Squash and Fitness Center in Wellington. With a passion for squash that's well-known throughout the community, Myles clinched both the Wellington and SNZ Volunteer of the Year awards in 2021 for his outstanding dedication at Island Bay Squash Club. His diverse background spans graphic design and managing a prominent cricket club in Wellington. As a devoted father of two, we're excited to welcome Myles aboard and look forward to collaborating with him!

Read on for his own story of how he got into squash...

You may think that Facebook and Instagram is the only way to connect these days but I tell you, in my experience, squash certainly brings about as many connections!

At about the age of ten I remember spending some of my Saturday afternoons watching my father play squash at the local club. Looking exhausted at the end of every game — and perhaps thinking he should take up darts instead — he nevertheless encouraged me to give the game some serious thought, which indeed I did. My interest and development in the game (which I am still refining to this day) led to making many new friends, especially as I became involved in a number of junior grade tournaments.

The incentive to play squash in my early life was largely prompted by adult members playing the sport. I valued the time and effort my coaches put into lifting my (and others') performance both on and off the court. I believe the pleasure I got from playing squash in these early years contributed significantly to my ever-expanding life experiences, which I has contributed to my leadership and guidance skills to this day.

I certainly encourage you to give it go! don’t take it too seriously but have fun in the enjoyment of learning some new skills and techniques to improve your squash.
