The new release of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is giving plenty of publicity to Peru and was recently showcased in New York for its grand opening. Any families with kids that watch the movie may no doubt be curious to know where most of the film was set, so if kids are asking "where is this?" "or that?", then you now know. Peru is actually a very family-friendly destination that would suit kids of all ages. Furthermore, we will welcome anyone considering a trip here and cover the sites and locations shown in the film!

"After a typical breakfast served by your host family, we continue our trek on through the Andean Mountains passing rustic villages surrounded by breath-taking panoramic viewpoints. We retrace the amazing pathways built hundreds of years ago by the Incas" (Day 2 of one of our multi-day homestay treks)

As we enter a New Year, we find New challenges have arisen. Our birthplace will always be Perú, and right now may not be the perfect time to go. However we have expanded and are now confirming new trips in other parts of Latín América such as Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala. We already have several trips that have successfully departed and more that are planned and we work with AMAZING set of local people in all of these countries. Consider a trip with us to Central América as well as Perú! 🙂

We are continously being asked for Machu Picchu tickets at very short notice and often when they already límited or completely ran out. When tickets are gone this applies to every agency. There are rumours to just get tickets on the day at the office in Machu Picchu town, but this carries a huge risk of turning up for nothing and people should not take this risk. Please be aware that you should book tickets (through us) at least 1.5-2 months before your trip to avoid disaapontments!
Regards, the Trek Hoppers Team

Have you considered the Choquequirao trek without camping? We can coordinate from start to finish with no gear to worry about, and supporting the locals directly. 4 night 5 days is ideal, but it could be one day more or one Day less to suit the trekking ability.

Sustainable tourism: One of the most important reasons to travel is to be more aware on topics that cant be easy to explain through words. Learning from books or looking up on the internet may help. But honestly, there's no better way to educate visually by participation and learning these types of skills. Kids need to know where the food on their tables come from and the best way to do it without causing harm to the planet. It is in our hands to show the way to the next generation to be more informed.

The Potato harvest in the Peruvian Andes is between May and July with the off-season harvest in late January or February. We can offer full participation in these activities if you want the best possible insight to local organic farming and way of life. This can be combined with a family homestay and visits to main attractions such as Machu Picchu. When do you want visit?

The idea that travel will never be the same is true. The idea of it not being possible to travel, is not! Our partners at South Andes travel have proven just that, by being the VERY FIRST of any operator in Peru in 14 months to bring a foreign tourist group from outside the country!!! A group of 15 are currently going to all the most famous sites without any other tourists there and naturally are being warmly received by locals who can begin believing again that they can benefit from our visits. It wont be an overnight turnaround. But its a start at least....!
