𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | The FEU IHSN Student Council had its first-ever team building yesterday, August 30, 2024

This momentous event was specially made for the members of the FEU IHSN Student Council — Board of Directors and the newly-accepted Executive Committee members to build bridges with our co-members as we embark on this journey of interconnectedness of sharing one passion with a collective team effort — with, by, and for the IHSN students.

The event was proposed and organized by the President, through the help of the Executive and Central Board, to foster new beginnings in the Council.

As we start this new chapter, the FEU IHSN Student Council is more than ready to serve the IHSN Tamaraws towards a fruitful Academic Year bringing the brand of leadership to every students.

As we reflect on the lives of our national heroes, it is crucial to remember figures like Dr. Jose Rizal and Dr. Fe del Mundo, who displayed patriotism not just through their love for their country but also through their profound contributions to medicine and science. Their work exemplifies the transformative impact that one individual can have on the lives of others, turning despair into hope and suffering into healing. These heroes embodied a spirit of service that transcended their era, fighting not only for freedom but also for the welfare of their fellow Filipinos. Their dedication to uplifting the marginalized through their expertise highlights the deep connection between national service and the pursuit of knowledge for the common good.

Dr. Jose Rizal, a revered national hero, used his skills as an ophthalmologist to provide free medical care to those in need, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to his people's well-being. His legacy as a scientist and healer is a testament to the power of individual talent in serving an entire nation. Similarly, Dr. Fe del Mundo’s groundbreaking work in pediatric medicine, including founding the country’s first pediatric hospital and developing the bamboo incubator, continues to save lives today. Her dedication to children’s health and her innovative spirit remind us that true bravery lies in the selfless pursuit of others' welfare, especially in resource-limited settings.

Honoring the enduring legacy of our national heroes means recognizing their profound contributions that have shaped our nation’s path. Figures like Dr. Jose Rizal and Dr. Fe del Mundo are exemplary, but their stories highlight the broader truth that every national hero has played a crucial role in our society's collective betterment. Their spirit of service—whether through the pen, the scalpel, or the brush—has paved the way for a nation that values compassion, knowledge, and justice. By honoring them, we recommit ourselves to the values they championed, ensuring that their legacy continues to inspire future generations to strive for a better, more equitable Philippines.

Yesterday, August 23, 2024, the FEU IHSN Student Council Auditor, Chloe Yvanna Gagan together with the Board of Directors of the Sports & Talents Department had their alignment meeting with the new set of officers of IHSN Alunig for the Academic Year 2024-2025.

With the new start of the academic year, the IHSN Alunig together with FEU IHSN Student Council is ready for a fresh start and harmony to elevate the talents of our dear IHSN Tamaraws.

𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌𝐈 | Update on the WRP and Path Fit system concern

In a recent dialogue aimed at addressing student welfare, the FEU IHSN Student Council President Lawrence Aidan Cunanan, Vice President Ullysis Alburo, along with representatives from the FEU Central Student Organization and the Institute Council, engaged in a productive discussion with the Wellness and Recreational Program (WRP) Department.

The meeting focused on the ongoing concerns raised by students regarding the WRP system, which has been a subject of widespread attention within the Tamaraw community.

On August 21, we commemorate the assassination of Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., a senator and one of the prominent opposition figures during the Marcos dictatorship. During the dark years of Martial Law—marked by grave human rights abuses, rampant red-tagging, censorship, and suppression of dissent—Ninoy stood by his principles, famously declaring that we must 'live with honor and follow your conscience’. His courage inspired countless Filipinos who have bravely and continuously fought against oppression and exploitation, standing at the forefront of activism and resisting threats to our country's democracy.

The Marcos Jr. administration's decision to move the date to August 23 from the original date of August 21 in commemoration of Ninoy’s martyrdom will not remove the fact that Ninoy Aquino died fighting for the liberation of our country which sparked the movement that ousted Marcos Sr. This manipulation of national holidays is part of a broader, deliberate attempt to distort history under the guise of promoting 'long weekends' for local tourism.

We remember the years of human atrocities committed during the Marcos Sr. dictatorship. As historical distortion becomes more rampant, it is imperative that we rebuke the efforts of the current Marcos Jr. administration to alter the reality of what truly happened during the 21 years of tyranny and dictatorship under the Marcos Sr. administration.

The FEU IHSN Student Council is one with the broad masses in remembering the sacrifices of Ninoy Aquino and many of the Filipino people who played a historical and significant role in ending the decades-long tyrannical rule of the Marcos family. Let us not forget that the power lies in the people. History has shown that no dictatorship can withstand the collective action of a populace determined to defend democracy. As long as injustices persist, we, the Filipino people, will stand united to resist them.

| In response to the recent changes in the WRP System, the FEU CSO is interested in knowing your current status to evaluate the number of students encountering issues with WRP.

The data provided will serve as the basis for crafting recommendations, which will be submitted to the WRP Department for review and consideration.
