Exciting things ahead for chatbot users!

The new Instagram feature just started rolling out, and it lets you create a “DM Subscriber List” so you can send messages, just like an email list.

This is just like RTN or "Recurring Notifications" on Messenger.

Here’s how it works:

In the DMs, you can invite people to subscribe to a list of yours. You can have multiple lists. The list can be for weekly specials, tips and tricks, how-tos, inspirations, etc...

Here are the 3 TYPES of lists you can have:

Daily List: 1 message per day, up to 6 months.
Weekly List: 1 message per week, up to 9 months.
Monthly List: 1 message per month, up to 1 year.

You can send people reminders to renew their opt-in as you get to the end of the 6/9/12 months.
This also prevents spammers from sending messages out past a certain point.

For example, you could have:

[1] Weekly list for a public/free newsletter you usually send out by email.
[2] Weekly list for announcements to your paid membership community.
[3] Daily list of upcoming sales and promotions.
[4] Daily list for evergreen campaigns like 5-day challenges, webinars, etc.
[5] Monthly list for a monthly roundup newsletter.

It’s in Beta for now, but will be publicly available in the coming months!

If you're not familiar, Recurring Notifications allow you to send messages for free to your list, for example:

👉monthly product recommendations,

👉daily pre-event content,

👉loyalty reward alerts,

👉weekly newsletter

What's New:

Previously, there were 2 steps: people had to start a conversation with you, then you would send them the recurring notification request.

Now there's just 1 step: Click on a link and opt-in for recurring notifications before you even enter the conversation.

You can place this opt-in link on your website, email footer or CTA button, QR codes on product packaging or in person, etc. to grow your broadcast list.

One of the biggest values of a chatbot is that users are already accustomed to getting notifications through their messaging apps, so the engagement rates are much higher!

Chatbots are always evolving and evolving fast.
When I started with chatbots using platforms like ManyChat you can only use Messenger and SMS and can be plugged into other social media channels or websites but now, you can use them with IG, WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram, Line, and more.

It's so exhilarating how chatbot features are developing almost every single day to cope with customers' changing buying behavior.

That’s where email comes into play as well. You can send emails that include links for triggering real-time conversations. When a lead clicks that link, he or she is automatically connected back to messenger or IG. But if the sales reps aren't available at that exact moment, it isn’t a huge deal.

Chatbots will always have your back and can hop in and keep the conversation going.
