We highly encourage you to stay informed regarding the suspected monkeypox case in our province, as announced by the Provincial Health Office in their advisory.

For reliable information, we strongly recommend relying on trusted sources and adhering to health guidelines issued by the authorities.

Catarman MESU has been alerted, and contact tracing efforts are underway.

Rest assured, our surveillance systems are fully operational, allowing us to closely monitor the situation and safeguard our community from potential health risks. We urge everyone to seek information from reliable sources and stay abreast of the latest guidelines.

You made it, Class of 2024!

Despite the inequities exacerbated by the pandemic, you surpassed years of rigorous study, countless late (or perhaps sleepless) nights, homesickness (and lovesickness?), torrential rains, floods, and skyrocketing heat indexes, the list is endless. And for this, you deserve nothing but the warmest congratulations!

Your achievement today is a testament to your determination and indicates the magnitude of support of your families, loved ones, friends, and lecturers/instructors/professors who have been with you from the moment you set foot in UEP. As you celebrate this moment, remember the friendships that you built, the experiences that you shared with your classmates, and the knowledge and skills that you gained in and outside the classrooms—these will be the foundation upon which you build your future.

As you step into the world outside the university, we are certain that you are ready to face the complexities of our time, from the urgent global fight against climate change to the rapid advancements in technology, from the challenges assailing our democratic institutions to the systemic inequities that continue to pervade our society. The world needs you now more than ever, so carry with you the lessons learned and the relationships built during your journey at UEP. Surely, your potential to make a lasting profound impact on the world is immense, and we are excited to see the incredible future you will help create.

Padayon, graduates of 2024, and may the Force be with you, as always!

Congratulations to all Miss Gay University 2024 pageant candidates, most especially to SAMAR Party student leaders Jessica Marasigan/Salvador M. Sosing (COED college representative-elect) and Rusty Tobes (CAC college representative-elect)!

Sosing and Tobes are both witty and wacky, fashionable and passionate, and creative and congenial. Putting premium on wit and emphasizing substance over style, their performance last night can only be described as amazing and admirable.

For how she did last night and the string of pageantry experiences and advocacies attached to her name, Jessica Marasigan/Salvador M. Sosing truly deserves the Miss Gay University 2024 title!

As this year’s titleholder, SAMAR Party will work with Jessica Marasigan/Salvador M. Sosing and the university’s LGBTQIA+ community in ensuring that the crown becomes a platform to reduce homophobia and foster inclusivity, an avenue for speaking out and standing tall, and a symbol of LGBTQIA+ power and pride.

Through Jessica Marasigan/Salvador M. Sosing and Rusty Tobes, SAMAR Party will work with the university LGBTQIA+ community to make sure that its collective voice will be heard loud and clear and that it fulfills its integral role in shaping the story and history of the university.

Congratulations, our fellow UEP students, and thank you for saying “YES TO SAMAR! YES TO JAMES!”

The magnitude of your support to SAMAR Party and our pro-student principles is overwhelming! You elected into position our student leaders in all the eight key posts in the USC! On top of that, you elected a large number of our college representatives and a huge majority of our leaders in the college student councils! This is a crucial step towards making a better USC, and for that, you deserve nothing but the warmest congratulations!

In the coming months, we will work with you for JAMES: Just representation, Accessible resources, Meaningful engagement, Education and empowerment, and Safety and support. With JAMES as our roadmap, we can definitely guarantee that YOUR NEXT USC IS A BETTER USC. Of course, we cannot do all these alone. During these critical times, we have to work together to make our USC better!

As we move forward, we will keep in mind the attack against the autonomy of our student councils and the attempt to silence the student publication. We will work with you to ensure that the University Student Council will be restored to what its Constitution envisions it to be—a council that is of the students, by the students, and for the students. We will work with you to ensure that our campus will remain a safe and enabling space for free speech and free expression. With you, we will ensure that as UEP students, our rights are protected and our welfare promoted, at all times and at all costs.

The past few weeks have been busy for us at SAMAR Party, and we owe a lot to our fellow UEP students, our volunteers who helped us from logistics to creatives, from campaign sorties to poll watching, and a whole lot more, even during nighttime and dawn, weekends or in between classes, rain or with the heat index up. They have all put their immense effort, talent, time, energy, and resources, individually and collectively because, like you, they said “YES TO SAMAR, YES TO JAMES!” We congratulate and thank them, too!

We also thank our alumni leaders who have always been there to mentor and support us. Now that SAMAR Party is reaching another milestone—25 years of genuine pro-student service—the integral role of our alumni leaders cannot be overstated. Year after year, we build on their accomplishments to chart our future and make sure that every time, we get better and better.

Guided by JAMES and inspired by you, SAMAR Party will remain true to its commitment—to be of genuine service for the students, forever.

Damo nga salamat!
