LOCAL HAPPENINGS I National Museum of the Philippines - Cebu

Get to know more about Consolacion's Sarok. "It is a local hat made from woven bamboo strips and dried banana leaves. This is often worn in farming because of its wide shade that protects the wearer from the heat of the sun and heavy rains. Today, product development programs and innovations have eventually turned the sarok from an ordinary hat to fashionionable accessories and creative fixtures.

This February 28 and 29, 2024, the National Museum of the Philippines - Cebu will be featuring the sarok in our 2024 Lala Series public program through a demonstration-workshop with invited participants and a mini exhibit of sarok products."

This activity is in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Consolacion and the Sarok Weavers Association of Consolacion.

MOMENTS I G5 Museum Visits

The Grade 5 teachers and pupils visit five different museums and historical places in the city as part of "Chronicles of Historical Places", their Broadfields and Outreach Activity on 15 February 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., focusing on the value of Enthusiasm for Life.

The historical places in the city of Cebu that they have visited include the Archdiocesan Museum of Cebu, Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino de Cebu Museum, Magellan’s Cross, National Museum of the Philippines- Cebu. and Fort San Pedro Museum. These visits aim to provide the participants the experience to gain a deeper understanding of the historical, religious, and cultural heritage of our province, and country.

They also maximize their exposure to the different staff and personnel of the places they have visited by sharing their prepared snacks, and their messages of appreciation for their hard work and commitment to the preservation of these historical places.

As Roxy Ong summarizes it, "I found the activity memorable. I like seeing the ancient artifacts, sitting on the grass having a picnic with my friends, and having a good time inside the van. This entire experience has been fulfilling."

As for Jeico Steven Yap, he shares his excitement, happiness, and gratitude for the enjoyable field trip. He has seen how his classmates enjoy the museum visits and the exploration of our amazing culture through the artifacts and the wonderful items.

What a fun learning experience for everyone!!!

Kudos, to all Grade 5 teachers for the organization of this activity! And cheers to our Grade 5 Hearters. May this appreciation for our culture continue to grow in your hearts.

TIDINGS I FI National Youth Assembly

Our team of delegates is participating in the FI National Youth Assembly at Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion in Pototan, Iloilo. The gathering that is held from February 27 to March 2, 2024, focuses on the theme 'Youth on the Road, Walking Together with Christ in Our Hearts."

Let us pray that our students and teacher-chaperone, along with all the participants from the different FI schools, may truly have a Christ-centered experience. We pray for their safety and the success of the event.

MOMENTS I Trainings on Developing Critical Thinking

The challenge to being an Hijas Educator is to be continually open to opportunities to grow holistically as a person and to be better equipped with abilities to manage the different roles of being a teacher, a facilitator, a companion, etc.

To be more dynamic, confident, and skilled, the faculty members of the school attend a series of trainings on Critical Thinking in the Teaching-Learning Process, facilitated by Carlo B. Bejarasco, M.D., Ph.D. on January 19 and February 16.

DELVES I Talk on EDSA Revolution

In commemoration of the EDSA People Power Revolution and in our commitment to the Global Compact of Education, the school has organized a Talk on "The Realities Leading to EDSA People Power: A New Way of Looking at Politics as Service for the Common Good" on the 15th of February 2024 for the faculty and staff members.

Our speaker for this session is Ms. Ma. Lilibeth Sombong, our current Grade 10 Social Studies teacher.
