The Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index is an annual national survey implemented by the Department of Trade and Industry to measure the competitivess of local government units in five pillars: economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, resiliency, and innovation.

For Central Visayas, the USC Department of Economics has been commissioned to conduct the survey and analyze the results annually since 2013. This serves as one of the testaments to the commitment of the department to produce research in the pursuit of local and national development.

: 𝗣𝗜𝗗𝗦 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝗛𝗦 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗝𝗛𝗦 𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀

A PIDS study finds that those who finished senior high school (SHS) experience a significant 18.6-percent wage advantage over junior high school graduates. It also shows the SHS program’s significant intergenerational effects and positive outcomes on women in terms of delaying marriage and childbirth, resulting in healthier children. To improve program implementation, the study points to addressing service delivery gaps, strengthening SHS work immersion, and educating the public about the potential benefits of SHS.

The University of San Carlos ranked 88th among Southeastern Asia universities according to the ranking body Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) which released the Asia University Rankings on November 8, 2023.

Out of 857 institutions that were ranked in Asia, only 16 universities are from the Philippines.

USC ranked highest on employer reputation and academic reputation. It’s also recognized as the 2nd best institution in the Philippines in the citations per paper category.

In June, USC debuted in the QS World University Rankings.
