Valentines Day Reflection
February 14: today is Valentines Day.
Today happens also to be Ash Wednesday; the beginning day of the 40 days of lent ;
40 days of awaiting for the Triune Celebration commemorating of Jesus’
Passion , Death and Resurrection!
We Catholic follow the Catholic tradition of receiving the Holy Ashes as reminders:
“we all come from ashes( dust) and to ashes we will all return”
We are asked to repent and believe in the gospel. God came down from heaven and lived among men.
We are reminded that the way to salvation is through Jesus Christ ; God’s only begotten ; sent by the God the Father to the world ; born as a child from Virgin Mary ; lived among us and experience our humanity: humanity that knows pain and suffering
A day for lovers yet this day is most specially celebrated in honor of St Valentine : a bishop martyr or another martyr priest who fought for marriage rights among soldiers of the third century Rome and angered Emperor Claudius 11
Be whatever its origin: all these messages depicts about love . “Yet there is no greater love than the one who gave up his life and died on the cross for the salvation of men: the love of Jesus Christ!”
For any among us; whose life maybe committed to marriage, priesthood or religious life or to a single blessedness;
a true love is often defined as one who is committed to the fulfillment of one’s chosen vocation.
Yet along one’s journey ; there is no perfect path; there is no perfect marriage; neither a perfect husband nor a perfect wife.
More so; there is no saintly priest or a perfect nun. We are all bound to sin and bound to fail in any chosen life. Yet it is a matter of striving towards the most and closest perfection we can attain is all we could hope for. And in every fall; may not matter that much but what matters is we get up every time we fall and continue in our journey.
At most times in any vocation or commitment each and everyone may even feel so complacent; we feel relax seem to forget the “forty first dates” with your partner or with the Lord!
After the first 10 years of marriage; our focus is shifted to the hustle and busy schedule day to day and to the care of our growing family; hardly remembering the usual bouquet of flowers or balloons or Valentines card! A priest or religious feels alone and lonely and may start to look back with regrets or question his or her vocation. In all these periods of trials and tribulation. This should be the time to recall the earliest zeal of your chosen vocation and try to walk down in that memory lane yeas back when you first met the man or woman of your dreams or why you answered your calling. All of us experience what the saints experience as called” the darkness of the soul!”; you seem too far from your beloved!
The darkness of St John of the Cross or Mother Theresa felt the burden and difficulties of detachment from the world and yet cannot feel at all God’s oresence in their spiritual lives.
It is for this “darkness of our souls “ that each and everyone has to hold on tight and surrender to Him; commend one’s self to his loving care! and let him take the wheel: the wheel of your life!
One day; you wake up refreshed; increasing zeal renewed or may not happen at all.
Yet all He ask is your complete trust to His saving grace and He alone knows the deepest secrets in your heart!
God bless us all fellow travelers in this journey as we await for our final destiny.
We all pray for each other that we will keep the prize we hope for and we will all see His heavenly glory!

We were only 650 Jews against the rest of the Arab world, without any Israel Defense Army (IDF).

No powerful air force, just brave people.

Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Saudi Arabia, they all attacked us at the same time.

The country that the United Nations gave us was 65% desert. The country was in nowhere!

35 years ago we fought against the three most powerful armies in the Middle East, and we swept them away, yes... in six days.

We have fought against various coalitions of Arab countries, which had modern armies and many Soviet weapons, and we have always defeated them!

Today we have:
*A country
*An army
*A powerful air force
*A State whose economy exports millions of dollars
*Intel - Microsoft - IBM develops products for the whole world.
*Our doctors receive awards for medical research.
*We have numerous Nobel Prize winners in all areas.

We have made the desert bloom, we sell oranges, flowers and vegetables to everyone.
Israel has sent its own satellites into space! Three satellites at the same time!

We are proud to be in the same range as: the United States, which has 250 million inhabitants.
Russia, which has 200 million inhabitants, China which has 1.3 billion inhabitants.
Europe (France, Great Britain, Germany), with 350 million inhabitants.
Those are the only countries in the world that send objects into space! Israel is now part of the family of nuclear powers, with the United States, Russia, China, India, France and Britain.

We have never officially admitted it, (but everyone knows it): only 60 years ago, they led us, ashamed and desperate, to sacrifice!

We have the smoking ruins of Europe fresh and we won our wars here with less than nothing. We have built our little "Empire" from nothing.

Who is Hamas to want to scare us, to intimidate us? You make us laugh!

Easter was celebrated; Let's not forget what it is about.

We have survived Pharaoh.
We survived the Greeks.
We have survived the Romans.
We have survived the inquisition in Spain and the pogroms in Russia.
We have survived Hi**er.
We have survived the Germans.
We have survived the Holocaust.
We have survived the armies of seven Arab countries.
We have survived Saddam.
We will continue to survive today's enemies as well.

Think about any other time in human history! Think about it: for us, the Jewish people, the situation has never been better! Let's face the world.

Let us remember: all the nations or cultures that once tried to destroy us, today no longer exist and we still live!

Egypt?
The Greeks?
Alexander of Macedonia?
The Romans? Does anyone speak Latin these days?
And the Third Reich?

And look at us:
Bible Nation
the slaves of Egypt,
we are still here.

And we speak the same language! Before and now! The Arabs don't know it yet, but they will learn that there is a God! ....as long as we maintain our identity, we will be here forever!

So we apologize for not worrying.
For not crying.
For not being afraid.
Things are good here.
They could certainly be better.

However: don't believe the media because they don't say that parties are still happening, people are still living, people are still going out, people are still going out to see their friends.

Yes, our morale is low. Because? Only because we mourn our dead, while others rejoice in the spilled blood. That's why we're going to win in the end.

He never sleeps or will never sleep...the guardian of Israel...HaShem, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
