The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) recently held a presentation and critiquing of its Rido Knowledge Product in the Municipality of Parang, Maguindanao del Norte last August 21, 2024.

Pikit, North Cotabato | The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) facilitated the long-standing conflict over internal land boundaries between Brgy. Langayen, Pikit, and Brgy. Dunguan, Nabalawag in SGA which began in 2011. The settlement took place at Madrasah Darayen Al-Islamie, Brgy. Langayen, Pikit, North Cotabato, SGA on August 31, 2024.

Representatives from both barangays attended the amicable settlement ceremony and thanksgiving kanduli. They pledged to end their conflict and formalized their agreement by signing it. This agreement is the result of collaboration with the stakeholders, community leaders, and key partners. As part of the MPOS mandate and its program, a temporary political land boundary has been established. Both parties have inspected the boundary area to confirm the official demarcation.

With this year's theme, "𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴, 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴" the Ministry extends its full support towards a transformed, developed, progressive Bangsamoro.

𝗕𝗜𝗙𝗙 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗜 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗿𝗲𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆, 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲

Twelve (12) members of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and Dawlah Islamiyah (DI) chose to rejoin the mainstream society on August 27, 2024, received cash assistance from the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS).

The return of these local insurgents was facilitated by the 6th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army (PA) in partnership with the MPOS. The cash assistance distributed to each of the returnees, amounting to Php 5,000, was part of the continuous initiative of the ministry. The initiative is to encourage this vulnerable sector to return to the government and be part of the peacebuilding efforts of the Bangsamoro government in sustaining the gains of peace.

In her speech during the presentation of the returnees, Ms. Sittie Janine M. BGEN Oriel L. Pangcog PA, Commander of the 601st Brigade, PA, Members of Parliament Hon. Atty. Suharto Ambolodto, Hon. Faizal Karon, and Hon. Bassir Utto, Mayor of Datu Piang Hon. Victor Samama, and representatives from other Bangsamoro government agencies, and local government units graced the program and expressed their support to the said returnees.

Moreover, these 12 returnees will be enrolled in the peacebuilding training program of the MPOS.

𝙇𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙣 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙣 | The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) in coordination and collaboration with the AFP, BIAF, BLADRAI, and other key peace partners of the Ministry successfully settled a rido between two families held at the Barangay Hall, Bohe Bessey, Lamitan City, Basilan on August 17, 2024.

M**F Deputy Base Commander in Basilan, Mr. Rajan F. Abdurahman shared the collaborative efforts made by the Ministry, M**F and partners to reach the settlement ceremony. 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗕𝗜𝗙𝗙 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴

Additional 7 members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) voluntarily returned to the folds of law through the efforts of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, Philippine Army. These returnees individually received Php 5,000 from the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) on August 19, 2024 in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte.

The immediate assistance is given to them to support their needs during their community integration journey. The 7 returnees will be then enrolled in the peacebuilding program of the Ministry to become part of its advocacy in transforming them into agents of peace in their respective communities.

During the presentation program, MPOS Peace Education Division Chief Ms. Sittie Janine M. Gamao thanked the returnees for choosing the path to peace. Meanwhile, Major General Antonio Nafarrette, Commander of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central shared a message to the returnees, “𝘚𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘬 𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘺𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘪𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺𝘢, 𝘰𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥 𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘢 𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘺𝘰 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘢 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘺𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘶𝘨𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘪𝘭𝘢 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘺𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘶𝘬𝘢𝘴.”

As of this date, the Ministry provided interventions to more than 700 former local insurgents from different provinces of the Bangsamoro region. The new returnees will be prioritized in the peacebuilding interventions of the MPOS.

𝘽𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙜, 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙤 𝙙𝙚𝙡 𝙎𝙪𝙧 | The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) spearheaded the successful completion and turn-over of the first Tourism Development Plan in the province of Lanao del Sur on August 19, 2024 held at Sultan Pansar Gymnasium, Municipality of Butig. This activity is in line with the Ministry’s program as part of the interventions of the Bangsamoro Government through the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) to help the conflict-affected communities rehabilitate, rebuild, and develop.

This remarkable milestone represents a significant achievement to support and transform Butig, as one of the conflict-affected communities in Lanao del Sur.

MPOS Director-General Atty. Al-Rashid L. Balt highlighted the significance of the event. He mentioned that Butig Tourism Development Plan (BTDP) 2023-2027 is a component of the Butig Rehabilitation Program which is part of the endeavors of the ministry to achieve an enduring peace in the Bangsamoro under its mandate to implement programs related to peace-building, reconciliation, and unification.

On August 8, 2024, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) distributed financial assistance to eight ( 8 ) members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) who chose to return to the fold of law. They were presented by the 33rd Infantry (Makabayan) Battalion of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division of the Philippine Army led by Commanding Officer LtC Udgie C. Villain Inf (GSC) PA.

As part of its ongoing peacebuilding efforts, MPOS provided Php 5,000 for each of the returnees to aid them in their community integration as civilians.

The workshop aimed to strengthen conflict management capabilities through improved data collection, analysis, and visualization. Participants were trained on enhancing datasets, refining conflict mapping, and utilizing the MS Power BI to visualize data for a data-driven decision-making.

𝘽𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙤, 𝙏𝙖𝙬𝙞-𝙏𝙖𝙬𝙞 | 38 uniformed personnel from various Law Enforcement Agencies underwent a Capacity Development Intervention on Narcotics Investigation and Prosecution Management Seminar-Workshop through the initiative of the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) in partnership with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at the Rachel's Place Hotel and Restaurant, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi last August 6-8, 2024.

The said activity highlighted the critical importance of meticulous documentation and inventory of seized evidence, ensuring consistency between affidavits and court proceedings. Participants gained practical, hands-on knowledge of the procedures involved, emphasizing the need for precision and care in every step to prevent case dismissals due to procedural lapses.

Above all, the activity signified the Ministry's unwavering committment towards a peaceful, progressive, and developed Bangsamoro through strengthening its coordination and collaboration among law enforcement agencies in the region.

Lamitan City, Basilan | The Ministry of Public Order and Safety broke ground for the new Bangsamoro Peace Playground in Sayugan, Brgy. Maligaya, Lamitan City, Basilan on July 31, 2024 through the TDIF program of Hon. Muslimin Jakilan, a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), who has played a significant role in advancing community development in the region.

At the event, Hon. Muslimin Jakilan emphasized the significance of investing in the younger generation and providing them with recreational areas. He highlighted that the Bangsamoro Peace Playground will serve as more than just a recreational facility, but also as a communal space where families can gather and engage in various activities. He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Public Order and Safety for their support in bringing this initiative to fruition.

Mohammad Ajul, Basilan | The Ministry of Public Order and Safety led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Bangsamoro Cultural Peace Center at Mohammad Ajul Municipality in Basilan on July 31, 2024. The said activity is under the TDIF (Transition Development Impact Fund) Program of BTA Member of Parliament Hon. Hatimil Hassan.

The Bangsamoro Cultural Peace Center is anticipated to significantly impact Basilan's socio-cultural environment by serving as a hub for diverse cultural activities and encouraging harmony and mutual respect among various ethnic communities. The center is planned to organize workshops, cultural events, and educational initiatives to promote peace and foster mutual understanding.

The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS), in collaboration with Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), recently embarked on a series of Public Order and Safety Advocacies in Conflict-Affected Communities and Public Order and Safety Advocacies in Camps to bolster public order, promote community safety, and identify local challenges in conflict-affected areas held at Simunul Tawi-Tawi on June 22, Tuburan, Basilan on June 26, and Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan on June 28, 2024.

The community in Simunul, Tawi-Tawi, expressed strong support for working together with law enforcement and other agencies to maintain peace, order, law, and security. Hon. Shuaib Bahauddin, President of the Association of Barangay Chairmen (ABC), emphasized this sentiment, stating, "𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘣𝘺 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘸."
